...we got up early and had coffe then headed straight out to get the shopping done...and the Man had ordered a gallon of porch paint and I needed to pick that up at the Sherwin Williams store and Saturdays there are pretty crazy...
...we got a lot of stuff...mostly just 'regular' fruits and veg...
...the Man is trying to eat 'healthier' and he said he doesn't particularly like Earth Balance (my fave vegan butter)...so I got him some Miyoko's to try...
...I also got a loaf of really-really-marked-down bread...27¢...crazy...right?...and I got Violife cream cheese...plain bagels...and some everything topping because the Man likes blueberry bagels best...and I like everything bagels best...but we agreed that we'd both eat a plain bagel and top it with either blueberries or a sprinkle of everything and save a bit of space in the fridge...
...so...since I had not eaten anything before shopping...I toasted a plain bagel and added some Violife cream cheese and a sprinkle of Everything...and I've already learned that I'll have to go lighter with my sprinkle next time as this was a bit much...
...a quick little winter garden update...after watering every day for a couple of weeks I was so happy that we finally got some rain...
...these vincas...still beautiful...in November...
...and then we got a bit of a surprise delivery...
...we had ordered a new sofa for the den...remember we turned our formal dining room into a den/tv room...and until now we'd only had the two old recliners in there...fine for just us two but not so nice if we have any company...
...so we ordered a new sofa...and agreed on a lovely forest green...the sofa itself will come later so we were surprised to receive the ottoman early...I do love it and I'm looking forward to having a comfy seating area in the den...
...Sunday after church I made another batch of sauerkraut...I just chop cabbage until I have exactly 3 lbs...(and .1 oz apparently)...
...and then I add 1 tsp of kosher salt per pound...so three...and massage it in and pack it into a half gallon jar and set it on the counter for about 3 weeks...
...and I also made a batch of croutons...nice crunchy ones that don't hurt the roof of my mouth or break a tooth the way the commercial ones do...they are always so hard...

...11.8...Friday Update...
...y'all...these tomatoes...they don't look very lush right now...
...but it's absolutely crazy how many tomatoes we've gotten off of these three little patio tomato plants...
...and they're still blooming...in NOVEMBER...
...this is one day's harvest...well that larger one is a tigerella from my poorly performing upside down plants...
...and y'all are probably also tired of hearing about these morning glories...
...they give me so much joy...
...and they're so pretty...
...morning glories are associated with love, affection, tenacity, and tenderness...
...in the kitchen...we took everything out of the cabinets on the other side of the room...
...and put them in boxes all around the dinette...making things a little bit inconvenient...but not a problem really...

...11.5...Tuesdays with Julia...
...we made the VEGAN SOUFFLÉ DÉMOULÉ, MOUSSELINE...or "unmolded soufflé"...
...it was good...poufy and cheez-y...probably a little sturdier than it should be...maybe a little too much flour...but still good...and it looked pretty...
...and all of the particulars are over at The Vegan Version...

...over the weekend...
...I started the weekend with a bowl of raw oats...we were chatting with a friend the other day...and we got to talking about oatmeal for some reason...and he mentioned that he likes to mix his otameal with half buckwheat...and the Man said he would like to try that...so we ordered some and the Man did try it and he likes it...but y'all know me and I like my oats raw...so I had a bowl of oats with flaxseed meal and some peaches...I really can't describe our friend's expression when I said that I always eat my oats raw...but it was a funny mixture of surprise and disbelief...
...and then headed out for the weekly shopping...
...a bunch of things...I got another carton of the Vegan Almond Nog...
...I got three different shapes of this La Moderna pasta for 50¢ each...
...I got three bags of frozen lima beans...I've not been able to find these anywhere...what's up with that...but I stopped at a little independent grocery and they had these three bags...so I bought them all...
...then we took down all of the Halloween decorations...
...I knew storing these icicle lights would be a problem...as they tangle up so easily...so I cut some long strips of plastic drop cloth
...and layed the lights out in a single layer...
...and rolled them up...I ran out of the plastic drop cloth so I switched to bubble wrap and that actually worked even better as it was less slippery...
...so now when I unroll this next year...the lights will still be in a single tangle free layer...
...so I crocheted a quick chain stitch rope to tie up the bundle and used the back of the front of a greeting card that was Halloween coloured to make a cute tag...so I won't get these mixed up with the Christmas lights which we don't actually have yet...
...and then I put all of the decorations back up in the attic... ...and then we went for a nice walk in the Botanical Gardens... ...it was another lovely dry fall day... ...the trees are beginning to turn here... ...but we were surprised by all of the flowers still blooming... ...so just walking around taking a bunch of photos of flowers... ...lots of pretty purple flowers... ...and a pretty poofy grass...I like it but having just pulled up all the sea oats...I don't think I want another grass like that... ...and this huge peachy flower... ...and this tiny little red one... ...flowers just spilling over onto the walkway... ...an interesting spiky globe... ...and the prettiest tree we saw was actually in the parking lot... ...Sunday afternoon we did some food prep...baked tofu... ...and tofu feta...a little overcooked but still delicious... ...and two bundles of turnip greens... ...washed 3 times and there was still sand in the bottom of the sink...so washed a fourth time... ...and then I crammed them all into a pot...they cook down considerably... ...when they were mostly done...I took the kitchen shears and made lots of crosswise cuts into the greens...I find this method easier than cutting them while they're still green and fresh... ...and let them cook a little bit longer...
~Wishing you a lovely start to your week!
