Auxilliary Sale

I've already mentioned a couple of things that we recently got at the Hospital Auxiliary Sale...

...but I was specifically on the lookout for some blue-themed cloth to go with the blue valances that Mom sent with my birthday package - I'm going to try and be good and do some Lutheran World Relief Quilts through the fall and winter and not end up rushing through them in the spring...

...the three on the left are also all valances - and only 50¢ each...and the green one on the far right is a twin sheet for only $1 - we usually use a whole one of those for the back of the quilt - you only have to cut a little bit off the bottom to make it the right size - I don't think I'll use it for this blue-ish quilt 'though...

...then I also found this adorable 'Animal Cracker' pillow sham for 50¢ as well - I'm thinking it will make a super cute apron...

...while we were sitting around having family time - i.e., the Man was reading some theological stuff, and Scout was reading his new 'Boy's Life' that came in the mail yesterday...I took my trusty seam ripper and ripped out all of the seams - now they're all just cloth - that one plaid piece is about 3 X 12 feet - that's a lot of yardage for 50¢ - the others are smaller - but I think they go nicely together and will make a pretty quilt...

  1. Sweet score on the fabrics! The animal crackers is really cute, maybe you could even make it into a pillow?

  3. What a great find on fabric! I'm glad you're going to do some quilting. I hope to do the same thing over the winter, and maybe find some fabric to repurpose to make an apron or two for myself. I need to teach myself how to sew again, but maybe it's like riding a bike, and it will all come back to me, even if it has been yrs and yrs since I sewed last. Good luck with the quilting and sewing. Take care, from KY.

  6. In a charity shop in Wilton - while on holiday - I got two pieces of dark brown corduroy, about 1 1/2 yards each for £2.

The animal crackers fabric is very cute.
