...the groom's day...

...my sweet sister had arranged for her super nice Brother and Sister-in-Law to meet me at the airport...
...and when we got home...she put us straight to work...setting up the tents for the evening's Groom's Dinner...
...then inside we got busy finishing up the food...while the menfolk finished up outside...I was responsible for the 'Groom's Cake'...that's funny...I didn't realize it was 'primarily southern'...

...I mixed up several 'fishy' colours of icing...
...Karen had already baked the sheet cake...so I simply carved a fish shape out of it...an oval for the body and then used the leftover pieces for the tail and fins...sorry I didn't get a picture of it...but I'm sure you can figure it out...here is the 'fish' with the crumb coat already on...
...a goofy picture of me looking at pictures of fish...
...decorating...
...putting on the finishing touches...
...TA...DAAAA...the finished groom's cake...we finished the rest of the food...everything else actually too...right as the guests started arriving...
...it was a lovely evening for the rehearsal and an outdoor groom's dinner... ...I'll do another Wedding post and then a few more super FUN things from my long weekend with my sister...and then I promise I'll finish the Exploring W.V. posts... ~wishing you a lovely start to your week...

  2. That turned out quite well. I can't frost anything more than a cupcake so I'm super impressed! Also, I've never heard of the crumb frosting layer. That probably goes along with the fact that I can't frost well.
