...7.13...Dinner with Mom...

...we got up early and headed up the highway into the mountains...

...arrived at the childhood home...

...after watering all the flowers (it later rained making that unnecessary)...we got started making some dishes for the reunion...veg baked beans...

...cutting up peppers and onions for Nanny's (now Mom's) Mexican cornbread...

...and got those both into the oven...

...and out of the oven...the day of the reunion (today) is pretty hectic for Mom...so it was nice to get these done and ready...

...then we had a glorious meal of veggies from her garden...this is a mixture of green and greasy beans...(according to this article...an Appalachian treasure)...

...so this was dinner and no movie...cucumber and striped tomato...I cut my fresh corn off the cob...but you can see just the corner of Mom's ear...intact...snap peas...mixed green beans and new potatoes...and one of the vegan Mexican cornbreads...it was all so delicious and in such good company...not sure if my jaw is hurting from all the eating or all the talking...haha...
