...these little Christmas Tree ornaments are so simple and quick...not to mention CA-UTE!
...and each one takes less than an hour from start to finish...
...cast on 14 stitches and knit in Stockinette Stitch for 5 rows...(knit one row, purl one row)...you'll end with a knit row...
...then on each wrong side row...purl one then purl 2 together...and on each right side row...knit one the slip one knit one pass slipped stitch over...all the way to the end point...
...when you get to the last stitch...pull it out a little bit to make a loop and then cut your yarn and pull it through the loop...leave that tail for sewing the side and you'll have one on each tree...we'll use one for sewing and one for the star topper...
...make a bunch of little triangle trees in every colour of green remnants in your stash...you'll need two of each colour to make one ornament...
...pick up the center 4 stitches on one of the trees...
...and knit across these 4 stitches in garter stitch (knit each row) for 6 rows then bind off and weave in your tail...you'll only knit the trunk on one of the trees...
...if you're just making a plain tree...at this point you can go ahead and put two right sides together and seam the sides...
...but if you're going to add decorations...add them now to the tree with the trunk...I just did some french knots in a bright red...but beads or tiny buttons would be pretty too...
...then holding right sides together...seam the sides with one of your tails of yarn from the top down...
...then change to one of the tails from the bottom and seam up the other side using that cast on tail...you'll still have one tail from the top for your star and the rest of the top tail that you used for seaming and the other cast on tail at the bottom...you can weave in one of those two tail...
...turn the tree right side out...
...then using your one remaining bottom tail of yarn...stitch the bottom opening of the tree closed...when you get to the trunk...stitch into the back of the green stitches...
...then you're all done and you still have the top tail of yarn...
...thread an embroidery needle small enough to go through a yellow (or gold or silver if you have it) pony bead...
...and just stitch the star bead to the top of the tree...
...for a hanger I used some fishing line and just poked it through the pony bead and tied a knot at the top...
...I hope you make one...
...or a few...

I love them! I shall make a few after I've finished the sleeveless cardi I am making for my lovely neighbour.
