...10.31...Dinner and NO movie ...again...

First of All...

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

...we did the tiniest bit of Halloween decorating...and we're really only expecting one Trick-orTreater this evening...guess who...

...and all of these decorations are at least 20 years old...all from Our Airman's childhood...

...and second of all...we had dinner last night...but again...no movie...

...we had a delicious vegan chicken piccata...with rotini pasta...

...it was delicious...we had a salad and Texas Toast with it...but apparently didn't photograph that...

...Our Girl loved it...

...of course...she loved her toes as well...

...for dessert we had Chocolate Bundt cake with chocolate icing...Our Girl had a banana...

...and instead of a movie...we did this...

...just playing...the little Peppa Pig came in the little metal box...like a lunch box...and Our Girl loves opening and closing it...

...and climbing into and out of the chair her Great Grandma gave her...

...and playing with Kitten's toys...Kitten was so jealous...after Our Girl left to play with something else...Kitten came and sat right on top of her toy...she didn't play with it...she was just making sure we all knew that it was hers...haha...

...and then finally a FaceTime with Daddy...and she gives him a big smooch Good-nite...

...10.30...Friday Favorites...

...the trees are just starting to turn...

...we had to drop the car off to have a couple of slow leaks fixed...we had to keep adding air to the two front tires...and it was becoming a little bit annoying...

...so while we were waiting on that...we picked up lunch...a hot veggie sub...

...and headed to the park for a nice lunch...it's always fun to have a 'lunch date'...

10.29...What I Ate in a Day...as a Vegan...

...after a big jar of lemon water and vitamins...and a cup of tea...I made some breakfast...

...a coffee shake...I blended some vanilla protein powder...but it really wasn't very good this way...and I probably won't do that again...I prefer my coffee with cashew creamer...I drank it all though...

...I also made a Vegan 'egg mcmuffin' thingy...with tofu, vegan cheese, and some of those country ham flavored tvp bits...that was yummy...

...I was out of vegan yogurt so I made some before lunch...and added these frozen fruits...

...and I had a bowl of that with lunch (more like dessert)...which was a bowl of bean and barley stew from the freezer...some leftover Foreman grilled broccoli and sweet potato...and a little bit of cucumber and tomato...and tea...of course...

...I ate the last of the gifted homegrown pears...with some black walnuts (also gifted)...the pear was huge and perfectly ripe...

...dinner was one of my 'bowls'...baked tofu, homemade sauerkraut, carrots, Foreman grilled broccoli (again)...and Foreman grilled potato...

...and before bed I had some leftover vegan cornbread in milk (almond)...I love milk and bread...

...10.28...W.I.P. Wednesday...

...mostly...I've been playing with a baby...

...it's been a crazy month over at the Porch Pillow Project...as I was posting a pattern for each letter of the alphabet...and I'm almost finished...so I'm pretty happy about that...hop over the the Porch Pillow Project and check those out...your Monogram letter has probably been posted by now...unless you're in those last couple of letters...and I hope to have them all posted by the end of the month...

...but in other kind of crafty...repair/fix it news...these sling back closed toe shoes that Mom gave me last fall broke as I was putting them on for Church Sunday...the little strap just broke right at the seam...

...so I took my new seam ripper (that I bought with those found partial gift card a few weeks ago)...and ripped that seam open...

...and then I stuffed the broken off bit into the opening...

...and then just stitched it up quickly...with some strong white thread...

...and then I just coloured that with a brown marker...

...and wiped off the excess...and it's a pretty good match....and the strap is a little bit shorter now...but it still fastens fine...

...and I was happy with the quick fix...and I wore them to Church...it's nice to have them now that it's starting to be more fall-like...

...10.27...Tuesdays with Julia...

...we made the delicious sweet and browned turnip dish...VEGAN NAVETS GLACÉS À BRUN...

...10.26...Over the Weekend...

...you may have noticed that there was no 'Dinner and a Movie' this week...

...well...that's because it was all about the baby...and we mostly had teletubbies or Peppa Pig on the television...

...and it's way more fun to 'watch' this little sweetie than anything else anyway...

...let's see...what else did we do...well...we grocery shopped...I think the only thing of note are those gorgeous turnips...

...a super nice person from the neighborhood brought us these two bags of already shelled black walnuts...how nice is that...now I can make Mom's Black Walnut Pound Cake again...

...I froze some celery that was getting a little bit wilty...the chunks are just for seasoning...and the chopped celery will be perfect for stuffing in a few weeks...for Thanksgiving...

...another one of our parishioners brought us this bag of gorgeous green peppers...so nice...

...there were two bags of corn tortillas with just a few tortillas left in the fridge that needed to be used up...so I cut them up and baked them...just sprinkled with salt...

...got out a jar of 'boughten' (ND word) salsa...and added some chopped cilantro from the freezer...

...and then stirred in some homemade vegan cream cheese...and that made a nice weekend snack...

...and the leftovers keep for a few days in a jar...

...then the rest of the time was spent with this little lady...here she is busy with one of her toys from New Mexico...

...she loves bananas...

...and Kitten...she says 'Cat' really well...and we're pretty sure she said 'papa' (what we call the Man) over the weekend too...'Grandmommy' is a hard word to say...

...we did not have the best weather over the weekend...but we decided to go for a little 'hike' anyway...Our Girl loves to be outside...

...and she loves giving kisses...this is how she puckers up...

...but the motion and the sounds...and the snuggly warmth of the stroller soon made her sleepy...

...and she soon fell asleep...

...and took a little nap...she looks so much like her Daddy...especially with her gorgeous blue eyes closes...his are brown...

...she soon woke up with this sweet little smile...ready to play again...

...10.23...Friday Favorites...

...Mom had given me a gift card for my Birthday...back in July...and I put it up on the shelf in my desk...because I didn't 'need' anything...but really when was a the last time I 'needed' anything...

...but my 10 year old electric toothbrush finally quit working this week...so I was happy to have that card to buy a replacement toothbrush...I only had to wait a couple of days for the delivery...and don't worry I actually brushed my teeth manually those days...

...but now my shiny new toothbrush is on the counter...beside my also 10 year old water pik...so I'm expecting it to conk out soon too...haha...

...now what about recycling...the box and wrapping of the new toothbrush are easy enough to deal with ...but I did some research and the old toothbrush...not so much...

...and I'm not sure I want to take a hammer to the parts and recycle them separately...our local recycling facility has an annual (maybe biannual) date for recycling electronic equipment like phones and computers...so I think I'll call them and see if they will take a defunct toothbrush...I don't mind keeping it until April if they do...
