...this is kind of random...in that it's not really a project of any kind...I've had several questions about the tape maker set...so...
...I was just playing with my newest little sewing gadget...
...to make the bias tape with the little tape maker...you just cut a strip however long you need the tape...diagonally...
...and start feeding it into the tape maker...turn it over and there's a little slot that you can use a pin to help get it started...genius...
...and as you pull it through the magic happens...it folds the strip into a tape...
...which you then just iron flat first...
...and then folded...this is the smallest tape maker in the kit...and makes a tiny 1/4 inch tape when it comes out flat...
...and when you fold it over it's a really narrow 1/8th inch...
...and then...
...I was looking for my Hitty doll...that I carved years and years ago...seriously...Our Airman was just a little thing...3 or 4 years old and we lived in Columbia, SC and I would carve it outside while he was playing...(because wood carving is messy)...
...anywhoo...it came up in conversation...and I couldn't find her...and I realized that she's probably still packed...not from our most recent move (5 + years ago)...so...probably the one before that in 2011...
...so strange that something could be 'missing' for that long...
...and yes...we still have totes in the basement that have never been opened and unpacked...so we definitely don't need what is in them...
...all that being said...I did find her...and I'll tell you a little (probably a lot) more about her shortly...
...the only reference I could find to her on the blog is in this post from 2008...
...so...she was in this tote...appropriately marked "Loom"...haha...
...but wait...!!!
...there's a loom in there...with a 'project' on it...
...OK...there is also no reference to the loom on the blog...but it was given to me early in my marriage by my sweet SIL...who had gotten it as a Christmas gift as a child...I do so love it...and I've made several projects using it...but not recently...obvi...
...so...I set it up...and wove the last few stripes...the shuttles were still loaded and in the tote as well...
...I wove as far as I could...and then cut it off the loom and tied the ends...it appears to be a child's scarf...I just don't have any recollection at all of starting it...nor for whom I was making it...probably a boy just judging by the colours...
...then I wove in the ends...and I now have a cute little muffler that I can donate to Goodwill...
...what's in your workbasket?...
~Have a lovely day!

That's cute that you have stuff stored that you haven't opened. I think it's probably time to open them and donate. Wonder what other surprises are in there? Love, K
