...An Easy WONDER WOMAN Face Mask...

...with the recent mask mandate...I thought I'd better make another mask (not that I'm going out much)...just so I'd always have a clean one...
...so I drafted a pattern...this one is just a tracing of an existing mask...one of the contoured N-95 type masks that we already had on hand...
...then I gathered some cloth from my stash...red, white and blue...and a gold-ish yellow...
...then I sewed the red and blue together...
...and cut a strip of the gold to cover the seam...
...and then I just freehanded the "W" in the center...
...cut it out...
...pinned it in place...
...and zig-zag stitched around it...
...pressed and trimmed...
...folded in half...centering the W...
...pinned the pattern on centering the seam...
...I went ahead and extended the cut to the ends of the cloth...that way I'll be able to get really good face coverage...
...cut it out and cut out a lining from an old white cotton sheet...
...cut out a star...
...zig-zag stitched around the star...
...sewed the top and bottom seams of the mask and the lining...
...put the mask and lining right sides together...
...and seamed top and bottom...but left the two ends open...
...cut a length of pipe cleaner to go over the nose...so you can mold it to your nose...
...zig-zag stitched that in place...
...turned it right side out...
...pressed everything...
...and top stitched in red across the top...just below the pipe cleaner... and blue across the bottom...close to the edge...
...tried it on...and decided where to put the elastic...then just folded under the ends over the elastic...
...and I had a fun new mask to wear...

...it's really comfortable and easy to breathe...

...7.3...Friday Favorites...the Airman's Baby...

...last week...I did an Airman update...and now a quick update on our sweet granddaughter...we'll be spending a whole week with her and her family soon...
...she is almost always this happy...Our Airman said they are at the botanical gardens here...and it's about 100° F...and she is watching the koi fish...
...and I just love this sassy picture of her eating vegan banana bread...she loves it...
...and she can stand up by herself...she is so proud of herself...
...and an angelic picture of her sleeping...look at those lashes...so precious...

...What I Ate in a Day...as a Vegan...

...I had silk milk in my tea for breakfast...I don't usually do this...but when I was little I always drank milk in my tea...even iced tea...
...and I had a big bowl of grits with Earth Balance with that...
...lunch was a snacky affair...
...I had just a couple of spoonfuls of that spicy pepper sauce that our SC friend gave us for Christmas...so I wanted to use that up and get that jar out the fridge...
...so I layered it with some silken tofu on some organic corn chips...it was quite good like that...of course I could have blended the two together for a creamy salsa dip...but...I...so...lazy...
...and with that...I ate a couple more leftover things...just keeping it real here...I hate waste...and there were these two jars...one with collard greens and one with spinach...so I ate all of the spinach...and I think I'll finish off the collards with dinner...
...afternoon snack...an apple...and tea...
...for dinner...I made my cucumber/tomato salad...
...and the Man requested Julia's carrots...they are so good...
...and I ate a lot of food for dinner after my snack-y lunch...a deconstructed salad...4 romaine leaves with an apple and some walnuts...carrots...cucumber salad...rice...and the leftover collards...

...what did you eat yesterday?...

...7.1...Our First In Person Get Together...

...my dear old college chum Amie called and wanted to get together...

...and with social distancing still in place for our state...we knew that it would have to look a little bit different than our usual get-togethers...

...we've not seen each other since we went for High Tea...
...so I just gathered a few things for a quick lunch...
...and set up a picnic table (actually Nanny's old coffee table) in the back yard...
...and we had a lovely socially-distanced catch up lunch...

...6.29...Over the Weekend...

...BIG NEWS!...My sweet Sissie finally got her Birthday Package...
...just a W.I.P. photo from months ago...haha...I tried to do a little sketch of their boat...I snatched some photos from her sailing blog...McCraw Sails...but there really aren't a lot of photos of her boat for obvious reasons...it's pretty difficult to photograph your own boat if you're on it...so hopefully she'll get a lot of use out of it...
...and I made her a sweet little pair of slippers exactly like my TWO-TONED WOMEN'S SLIPPERS from XOXO CROCHET...except hers are aqua and grey...so pretty...
...and then I packed it all up with "the card" we've been sending back and forth for years...but you already know that saga...

...and I thought it was funny that she took almost exactly the same photo...
...in other news...one of our parishoners brought us a bag full of blueberries (bloobs) and peaches...I think some of the nicest people in the world live here...
...so I had my first fresh home-grown peach of the year...so delicious...
...it's not a very good photo...but the Saharan dust storm is making for some spectacular sunsets...and that's the un-mown field in the foreground...
...we did a bit of decorating for Independence Day...
...just a tiny bit...but I'm planning a patriotic Porch Pillow for next month...it won't be ready for the 4th...of course...
...they cut the field...with lights on at 10 o'clock at night...we heard the noise and wondered...what on earth...haha...

...then they waited a day and raked it a couple of times...
...and then yesterday...they baled it...
...I'm happy they got it all done in a weekend...it really has been perfect hay-making weather...hot and dry...

~Wishing you a lovely start to your week!
