Dishy Scrubby Thingy

I make these little dish scrubbers whenever one wears out...

- they're really cheap (the netting is 77¢ per yard at Stuff Mart) so less than a dime each.

I just cut strips about 1 inch wide from the netting...

...and crochet a circle - it takes about 5 inches to make one circle...

I like mine soft and floppy so I usually just do one thickness - but you can crochet two circles together to make a more substantial scrubber.

I must admit that this 'yarn' is no joy to work with but in about 10 minutes I can create a very functional scrubber...

Rnd 8: ch 1, (sc in ea of next 6 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around. Sl st in first sc, to join. Pull the little tail of yarn back through the stitch and tuck it into the crochet and you're done...

  1. Neato! Would it be difficult to knit with? I was thinking that a rectangle could be rolled and joined into a donut shape around a rubber band for a puffy ball shaped scrubber.

  2. Yep - you could knit with it I'm sure - I've made a rectangle before too - but it was crocheted.

  3. I bet I could use the plastic net bags oranges come in when I buy them from the supermarket. I'll give it a whirl!

  5. Hi everyone, I'm new here so if I say or do something not right please let me know. THANKS :o) I have been knitting scrubby cloths - with very THIN cotton -probably 1 or 2 ply gotten at a thrift store, with a strand of scrubby yarn (Red Heart scrubby). they are great for wash cloth or dish cloth. I have also used cookies and cream cotton and that is a little heavier with the scrubby yarn. that works up and looks great too. just a few ideas for everyone. have a great weekend Nancy C
