...9.9...W.I.P. Wednesday...

...first up...I shrinkified the navy t-shirt that I'd gotten last week to go with the stripey cut off trousers...
...and then my old iPad cover is starting to shed little bits of black stuff...it's some sort of vegan leather covering...and it's at least 10 years old...I don't really use this iPad very much but when I do I don't want bits of it flaking off on me...so I decided to cover it up...
...I made a pattern of course...
...and the first thing I did was cut out and buttonhole stitch an opening for the camera...
...then I lined up the pattern on some fabric from stash...
...cut it out...
...and checked the fit...
...realized that I could see the fabric with the camera...so I made that opening bigger...
...along the hard plastic clip-in edge I hand stitched the fabric in place...
...but all around the rest of it I used my heavy duty Singer sewing machine to slowly stitch where the current stitches were...
...from the inside...
...popped the iPad back in...
...and checked that it would close up and fasten properly...
...and everything works as intended...the cover still functions as it should...

...9.7...Over the Weekend...

...pancakes for breakfast...of course...
...and then shopping...the bean sprouts, water chestnuts, stir-fry veg, and La Choy noodles are all because the Man wants to make his delicious Chow Mein again...nothing else of note...the corn was 4/$1...but the bok choy was $3.99...so I guess it kindof evens out...
...and I was a little bit disappointed with this weeks soda treat...I tried the Popz watermelon lime one...and it was just ok...
...I did not get any West Life Soy Milk...so I made some...just soy beans and water...
...I don't think I'll use two cups of soybeans again...it made a really thick soy milk...of course I can dilute it a bit...
...and it produced two cups of okara...I think I'm going to try an okara ranch dip with some of it...and maybe some cookies...
...it's that time of year again...and the hedges needed to be trimmed...
...it really doesn't take that long...just a couple of hours...but it's still so very hot and humid...
...I have to keep reminding myself that it IS September...
...because the thermometer surely doesn't think so...
...we did get a little respit in the evening as a thunderstorm blew through...leaving behind a pretty double rainbow...
...it was a little bit cooler...not much though and still too humid to be very pleasant on the porch...

...9.5...Dinner and a Movie...

...well...I'm still recovering from one of those tummy bugs...you know the kind...about 12 hours of misery...the first couple of hours is usually pretty horrible followed by decreasing 'bouts'...
...so that was mostly overnight...and I didn't get much sleep and I didn't eat very much during the day...but my tender tummy thought that a grilled cheese (another sandwich...haha) and soup would hit the spot...
...I always put Ritz crackers in tomato soup (that's what Daddy did)...other soups get saltines...and I really don't remember what the Man ate...pizza I think...

...and the movie was another episode of Ted Lasso...

...and I did get The Lovely Bones at the library...I was afraid it would be really gruesome...but it wasn't...the descriptions of her attack and death were not very graphic so I was thankful for that...I've not gotten that far into the book yet...the main character is already dead but you kind of know that going in...but it is a bit nostalgic for me also being a child of the 70s and she's a very descriptive writer...

...what have you been watching (and reading) lately?...

...9.4...Friday Update...

...what a difference a week makes...in the garden...right?...
...the second planting of squash...cucumber...pumpkin and Hubbard have really taken off...you can see a lot of yellow in there...
...so many blooms...we're hoping to have a nice second crop soon...
...all that being said...the transplanted Swiss Chard is struggling...hopefully we'll get some cooler weather soon and it will perk up a bit...the little green onions are doing fine...and the row of radishes are ok too...

...what's growing for you this week?...do you still have a garden?...

...what delicious food have you been eating lately?...

...9.2...W.I.P. Wednesday...

...y'all may remember this notebook...from when it was a Bible Journal from back when I was teaching a Confirmation Class...(of course there's a whole post about it)...I wasn't using it as a journal anymore and I thought it was already pink and cute...
...all I did was peel off the center label and replace it with a 'cookbook' one...
...and then I got a set of white dividers...but I wanted cute little tabs for each section...so I printed those out on cardstock...
...and covered them with tape for some extra reinforcement...
...cut them out like tabs...
...and glued them to the dividers...
...the cookbook sections now are:
Sassy Salads
Snazzy Snacks
Scrumptious Soups
Coveted Casseroles
Enlightened Entrées
Swanky Sides
and Delectable Desserts

...I had made a tab for Vivacious Vegetables...but I didn't have room for it...and I figured the sides one would cover most vegetables...so I left it out...
...and then I found a cute kid's recipe page online...it even has a section for drawing the completed recipe...and Big Sissie loves to draw...so I thought it would be perfect for her...and then I filled out at least one recipe sheet for each section to get her started on her collection...

...Mom's Hashbrown Casserole is in there...so are the Brownie Bites that I make all the time...and the chocolate Chip cookies that Our Airman had memorized when he was little...he used to make them when he got home from school in the afternoon...and then eat half the dough...because they're vegan that's ok...and then we'd bake the 3 or 4 cookies that were left...haha...
...and then I'd acquired a bunch of baking mixes and the fixings for a pumpkin pie...so I packed all of those in a standard postal box and sent them on their way...

...what's in your workbasket this week?...
