...2.28...a trip to our Mom's...

...we were up before dawn to drive up to the mountains and visit our Moms...
...there was a lot of construction...
...the sun rose behind us...
...it was really pretty though...
...the sun was up when we could see the mountains...
...we celebrated the Man's Mom's birthday...
...then we went over to Mom's...
...Kitten was snoozing on her scratching pad on the sofa...placed there to keep her from scratching the sofa...
...the Man made a delicious spaghetti supper...

...2.27...Delicious Vegan Food we ate...

...using some vegan chocolate from Trader Joe's to make some vegan Reeses cups...
...melt the chocolate...I just used the microwave for this...but be careful and just zap it 30 seconds at a time...
...and spread it in a cupcake liner...
...and then I mixed peanut butter and powdered sugar and shaped it into a disk...
...and put it on top of the melted chocolate...
...and covered it with more melted chocolate...
...and let it set up...
...it's really delicious...I know there are Vegan Reeses...but they are really hard to find...

...2.26...W.I.P. Wednesday...

...the last time y'all saw this Dollie (#2) was last year in March...and I said that I was putting her aside until this year...but it's time to get her ready to ship to Alaska for Little Sissie's birthday...
...so I made her a pair of trousers...Big Sissie's dollie's were grey...but I made these in a nice khaki...
...and I combined the trousers with the jeans pattern so that I didn't have to do the short rows for the raised back...patterns here...and here...
...then I took the tiny little bits leftover from Mom's Karen hat and from Sissie's ear warmers as I thought the colours went well together...
...and I used them to make the striped sweater...pattern here...
...not sure why it's sideways...
...so I took another and it's sideways too...oh well...
...it fits her well...
...so then I made the taupe/mauve flared skirt to go with it...pattern here...
...and it looks super cute on her too...

...the goal is to have exactly the same garments for this dollie as the first one...

...what's in your workbasket this week?...

...2.25...Tuesdays with Julia...

...we made the rather impressive dish VEGAN FILET DE BOEUF BRAISÉ PRINCE ALBERT...
...it's good...quite a few steps...and I think it would be better without the truffles...haha...

...and all of the particulars are over at The Vegan Version...

...2.24...Over the Weekend...

...I have been having a LOT of trouble posting to my blog...I keep getting this message...I've done all of the regular troubleshooting things...clearing the cache and rebooting...logging out and back in...it's so frustrating...
...anywhooo...blogger has accepted my photos this time...I made a sort of baked tofu scramble for breakfast...
...and some air fried potatoes to go with it...it made a delicious breakfast...
...then of course we did the weekly shop...
...pretty normal again...
...nothing unusual...except we had a to get a few non-food items...
...then I wanted to weed the strip of sedum along the driveway...
...I'm always amazed at how many weeds we get in this pebble bed...
...because there's landscape cloth under the pebbles...I thought there wouldn't be this many weeds...
...so basically to pull them up...I push the pebbles aside and then pull the weeds out of the cloth...
...and just keep scooting along the row...
...until all of the weeds are gone...
...look at the massive roots on these little grasses...and all of those little hairy roots go through the landscape fabric...arghhhh...
...guacamole is still on repeat around here...
...Sunday afternoon I dusted off my old Betty Crocker cookbook...and made some English Muffins...
...mixed up the dough...
...and rolled them out and cut them with a jar ring...
...dusted the tray with some cornmeal...
...and let them rise for a bit...
...then fried them...no oil...they're really easy to make...I love them...
...and put them into a tupperware in the fridge...they'll make for a couple of quick breakfasts this week...
...and then I made a cherry pie for the Man...I say for the Man just because it's not my favorite...
...rolled it out and cut some strips for the lattice...
...cooked the cherries...
...and then wove the lattice...
...and baked it with the little protectors on the edge...
...it turned out pretty perfectly...
...and then I made some of my favorite tofu feta...
...and let it dry out a bit in the oven while another block of tofu baked...

~Wishing you a lovely start to your week!
