...8.4...W.I.P. Wednesday...

...it's been a really...really BUSY week...with our 6 year old niece here...
...and a lot of it centered around BALLET...of course...
...so we needed some leotards for practicing...I just used a combination of our unders and t-shirts to make a pattern that would fit us...
...so that was a pretty quick and easy project...
...and then...of course...we needed a miniature version of it...it was actually easier the second time around...most things are...
...it turned out super cute...
...then I made us each a filmy skirt...because you know...ballet...
...and it fits...a little snug maybe...

...but then we realized that we needed slippers...
...so we made some matching slippers...
...and they turned out super cute too...
...all kitted out for dance class...
...me too...
...then we found some beginner videos...and had a class each day...it was so much fun...

...but I think the most fun part just may have been putting our hair up in buns...you know...like ballerinas do...haha
...and then we realized that we need an instruction booklet...so we made one of those...I just drew the ballerina with a Sharpie...and coloured it in...and then we added her name...
...and filled it with pictures of all the positions we were learning...
...and we spent some time each day on the playground...
...and catching lightening bugs...
...we are a totally "catch and release" facility...
...those humongous stumps are a lot of fun for climbing...and jumping...
...and then she found some sawdust at the base...and after that it was bath-time...haha...
...and we've been working on a secret bead project...a present for her mom and dad...
...just a little bit at a time...we keep coming back to it...it's not hard...but it's tedious...and we don't want to get tired of it before we're finished...so we just do a few beads and then leave it...

...to go play another 50 or so games of hide and seek...haha...
...making cards...
...playing with my old old old dollies...this is my Baby First Steps that I got when I was six...she still works...it's so awesome...
...then...since I had been sewing...she wanted to learn to sew...you know that's a lot of fun...sewing...haha...

...so we got a pair of her pajama shorts out of her suitcase and used them as a pattern...
...just making them long instead...
...she did a great job sewing up the straight seams...I did the elastic waistband...that's kind of fiddly for a beginner...and the small hems a the cuffs...
...they turned out super duper cute...that skateboard material is leftover from some of Our Airman's jammies all those years ago...so it's a little bit boyish...but soft and cute still...
...they fit her great and she's so proud of herself...
...a little more beading...these are Christmas ornaments...much simpler than mom and dad's present...and we're doing them the same way though...just a little bit at a time...here and there...when we're resting between projects...or games...
...and then she's also teaching me...to make my first ever Bead Pet...

...her Mom very sweetly packed a bunch of projects for her to do while she's here...
...so I'm making a doggie...and she's making a penguin...
...how cute is that...it's a lot of fun too...
...then she painted a stepping stone...a hedgehog...
...stickering and colouring...
...then she wanted to use the sewing machine to make a finger puppet and that project also turned out great...and then she and finger puppet FaceTimed with Grandma...
...we did some yoga...
...and some more colouring...
...played the keyboard...
...fed the fish...and then because she was worried that they couldn't find the food...she pushed it under the water with her hands...I'm just happy the water is still clear...
...and finally...she learned to KNIT!...YAY!

...so that was a really long and busy post...

...what's in your workbasket?...

~Have a lovely day!

PS...
...also the fenders...Mom got me for my birthday came...

  4. That looks like such a crafty-artsy-creative good time!! Hooray! That is awesome. I especially love all the ballet stuff. I bet she loves being at your house!

We were just talking about fireflies/lightning bugs two days ago. I've only seen them a handful of times and Matt has seen one solitary bug. They seem so cool.

    1. Hi Beth,
...we had a lot of fun...and I definitely have fond memories of catching lightening bugs from when I was little...we'd sometimes put them in a jar with holes punched in the lid and watch them until we fell asleep...and then Mom would come in and free the trapped fireflies...
