...a stop in Knoxville...

...just to break up the trip home a bit...
...we drove to Knoxville, TN...in the pouring rain...and I do mean...POURING...as in interstate traffic stopping rain...it was crazy...
...but we made it to our sweet 'boutique' hotel...The Oliver...
...our room...
...the view over Market Square...
...I loved the old staircase...
...and the bicycles tucked underneath for guests to use...
...and it's definitely one of the 'greenest' hotels I've ever been in...if you wanted the air/heat to work...you had to put your key card into this slot...so when you left the room with your key...the air automatically shut off...
...and instead of coffee packets in plastic or K-cups...we had a re-fillable glass jar of signature coffee...
...and in the bathroom instead of tiny plastic bottles...we had these refillable glass bottles in the shower...

...all pretty neat-o...
...the rain stopped...
...so we headed out to tour Market Square...
...the Market Bell...
...and there was a park...
...the stream muddied by the rain...
...and artwork...
...then we wandered around town a bit...
...we wanted to go inside...but it was closed...
...late afternoon...
...as it got dark...people started setting up lawn chairs for the Shakespeare play...

...it reminded me of when we were first married and we lived in an apartment off Montford Ave...and the Montford Park Players still put on a free Shakespeare in the Park play...and everyone just sat on the bank...kind of a natural ampitheatre...
...a short clip of the play...King John...
...up early the next day for a pleasant and sunny drive home...

~Wishing you a lovely start to your week!

  1. I love outdoor theatre and my favourite was ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, wonderful. I did also see ‘The Importance of Being Ernest’ in the pouring rain, the show did go on!

What a lovely holiday with so much exploring and I think the hotel looked a treat to stay in. It is so important to be ‘green’ with rampant climate change. However, as vegans we really do our bit.

  2. As in 'the show must go on' rather than it seemed to 'go on' for a long time!
