...10.21.19...weekending...

...this is from the annual community Halloween party...
...the (tonsured) Man...and me as Luther and Katharina...we had a lot of fun!...
...when we were up at Mom's my sweet baby brother and SIL gave me this humongous pumpkin...called a 'candy roaster'...and three whole cabbages from their garden...and it was definitely time to do something with those...
...so I got busy chopping cabbage...
...3.26 lbs...which means...3 1/4 teaspoons of salt...
...packed into a jar...and in about 2-3 weeks we'll have another jar of delicious homemade sauerkraut...
...now...on to the pumpkin...I was surprised at how few seeds there were...
...just a whole lot of peeling and cutting...
...and that's all the seeds for the entire pumpkin...
...I used the Instant Pot...packed full three times to process all of that pumpkin...
...while the first batch was cooking...I continued cutting up pumpkin...
...and you know I roasted those seeds for snacking while I was working...I ate them all too...
...a whole sinkful of pumpkin ready for the cooker...
...first batch is done...
...so I just spooned the cooked pumpkin into all my muffin pans...
...and then smashed it right there in the muffin cups...
...and my big new strainer came in super handy...it's so strong it's perfect for heavy loads of pumpkin like this...
...and here's the end result...I've got 24 cups of frozen pumpkin now...and I kept a couple of cups out to make some muffins...whew!...
...of course the regular shopping needed to be done...and as I was evaluating what we'd need...I found both a lemon...which I peeled and then juiced...
...and a couple of limes...which I also juiced...then I froze them in ice cubes and a baggie...so they wouldn't go bad and get wasted...
...and then the only other thing of note that I can think of is that I went to Aldi...which I don't always do...and they had these two new to me items...I'll let you know how they taste...

...oh...and the Airman's Baby turned one month old today...
...this is from Church yesterday...she's a sweetie...
~Wishing you a lovely start to your week!

  1. Love, love, love the photo of you two in costume!!! Adorable! I'll have to read up on the history....but I'm pretty sure it's quite a stretch for the man to be a priest and you to be in a nun's costume, haha! Love, K
