...peppers and okra...

...so now that we're halfway through August...everyone that has a garden has OKRA...which for most people down south...that's one of the main reasons you have a garden...

...so...of course...we were gifted a whole bag of okra...you should have seen Scout's smile...remember how much he loves okra...
...just washed...trimmed and cut...on a cookie sheet and ready for the freezer...
...and all these pretty shiny homegrown peppers...
...get basically the same treatment...washed...trimmed and sliced...also ready for the freezer...we'll keep a few whole ones for stuffed peppers this winter...
...frozen okra...
...bagged for the freezer...I'd say it's loosely packed and we could just get out as much as we needed...but in reality ...we'll probably cook the whole bag all at once...
...the frozen peppers...frosty and stiff...
...also bagged and ready for the freezer...

...you can see I'm working through all the veg we've been gifted...'cause...thrift hates waste...

~Wishing you a lovely start to your weekend...

  1. Karen is right, all the blogs came in today here, too. I am jealous of all the veggies you get without the work of a garden. Very nice for you though. MOM

  3. That all looks like yummy goodness for the winter. I love okra and if there are specialist shops easy to get. Sadly, here in Chichester there aren't any so we get them when we can. We have a garden but we are very lazy and it is all grass - naughty!

  4. You have a bounty of fresh vegetables to have over the winter. I wish I had a much larger freezer than I do but I've got no place to put it :-(
