...Christmas W.I.P. ...Photo image to Canvas transfer...

....this is a craft that I've known about for quite a few years...and always wanted to try...
...I bought a couple of different sized stretched canvases and printed out a couple of images in reverse or mirrored...
...so that they'll be right when they are transferred...so this image is backwards...
...put a thick but even layer of modpodge on the canvas...
...then press the images face down into the modpodge...smooth and leave to dry overnight...
...then the next day...just take a wet (pretty wet too...) sponge...
...and start rubbing the backside of the paper...
...at this point you don't have to be all that gentle...
...and it's so satisfying to see the image start to appear...
...the wet paper will sort of wad up into little balls and you can just brush it aside...
...as the image appears you'll need to be more careful and gentle rubbing...
...and then leave it to dry again...
...I roughed up the very edges a little bit just by rubbing extra hard there to give it a sort of aged effect...
...after it's dry...put a generous amount of modpodge on top of the image...
...and just brush it around and swirl it...
...I left the brush strokes visible in mine...
...so it has a kind of painted canvas look to it...but you could do it completely smooth if you wanted to...

...and you can use this method to transfer an image to just about anything porous...

~Have a lovely day!
