...11.22...Dinner and a Movie...

...well...dinner was vegan fish and chips...and I almost totally forgot to take a photo...but it's tofu wrapped in Nori...with veganaise tartar sauce...chips from the air fryer and a pickle...it was delicious...and quick and easy...

...and the movie was Adulthood...it was really dark and quirky and a little bit funny...but not much...about two siblings who find a body hidden in their mother's house when she has a stroke...it was a movie about some people...haha...it kind of reminded me of Fargo...because things sort of spiraled out of control...

...11.21...Friday Update...

...the Man had started this little painting project before we left for Las Vegas...I had filled in all of the scratches made by Kitten when this chest was in Our Airman's room...notice that the bottom drawer runner is missing...not sure when or how that happened...one broken off side was still inside...but the chest hasn't been used since we moved...

...and look what we found stuck to the back side of one of the drawers...the Man was so tickled to see them...he said he remembered sticking them on the back of the drawer where no one could see them so that he wouldn't get into 'trouble'...he had gotten them from a cereal box...

...I found this image and a bunch of images of these stickers here...

...the Man's stickers must have been on the top left card of stickers...

...as you can see Paul with the fruit...

...and Ringo with the flower and the pinwheel...

...so FUN!...

...anywhooo...he took over the big room again...

...to get everything primed...

...the final coat will be black though...

...in the meantime...I set about recreating one of these runners...

...to replace the one that's missing here on the bottom...

...I used the tablesaw...the chop saw and a coping saw...

...to replicate the exact measurements that I'd taken of an existing one...

...popped it into place...and gave it a couple of quick brads with the nailer...then I sanded the top smooth and rounded the edges just a bit...and finally rubbed a bar of soap on top so it would glide smoothly and silently...

...and the drawer fits and glides so I'm really happy with that fix...

...11.20...Delicious Vegan Food we ate...

...I had bookmarked this Pajeon (Korean Scallion Pancake) a while ago...

...fried the onions...

...poured over the batter...

...and flipped to cook the other side...

...these were so delicious...highly recommend...

...11.19...W.I.P. Wednesday...

...this was my "Vacation Project"...haha...if you've seen all of the Las Vegas posts you'll know that I didn't really have much time for crocheting...but I thought a crochet hook are more travel friendly than knitting needles...

...and I've been wanting to make some burgundy pillows for the den for a while now...I've just been too busy with other projects...but now that it's cold and dark and all the Christmas presents are done and on their way to Alaska...I plan to make at least three pillows...

...so I dove into the stash and got out all of the burgundy colours...

...there was one skein of this deep burgundy that I thought would be perfect...

...and I chose the Hosta pillow by Sidsel Sangild for the first pillow...

...but this is all I've gotten done so far...

...and I absolutely LOVE this pattern...it's so beautiful and it's not as difficult as it looks...

...11.18...Back Home...

...what happened around here yesterday...not much...haha...

...we had almost nothing to eat in the house...as we had emptied the fridge before we left...before our first 'nap'...I made a comforting bowl of miso soup...

...when we woke up...we debated going to the grocery store...it's literally like a mile away...but decided not to...and made a nice warm bowl of grits...weird I know...but that sounded really good to me for some reason...

...and then after our second 'nap'...it was about suppertime...so I made tortilla pizzas...they were crispy and good...and easy...

...so bright and early this morning...after a good night's sleep in our own bed...we went to the grocery store and replenished the larder...(obvi we don't have an actual 'larder'...just a saying...)

...nothing unusual...I got the cranberries for Thanksgiving next week...because they were on sale for 99¢...

...11.17...the Trip Home...

...we were already tired when we boarded our jet...

...and left Las Vegas a little bit after midnight...we were a little bit late leaving because something was left open the pilot said and it took them a little while to get the technician back to close it...

...I thought everyone would just go straight to sleep...but we did get a snack first...I had juice...

...and a crunchy packet of edamame...

...and then I went to sleep...about 3 1/2 hours late the pilot woke me up to say we were starting our descent into Charlotte...so I peeked out the window at the dawn...

...there was frost on the window...

...and sure enough Charlotte's familiar skyline was out there too...

...we only had 45 minutes so we made a bee-line to our gate...and there was a Burger King nearby...so I checked for vegan breakfast options and their french toast sticks are vegan...who knew...they were ok...I really wasn't very hungry after my 3 hour nap...haha...

...then we boarded our little 'puddle jumper'...

...and we were home in no time...we probably won't accomplish much today...haha...

...11.16...Las Vegas Day 9...Final...

...we're at the airport waiting on our red-eye flight...

...our last day in Las Vegas with Our Airman...started about the same with breakfast...then we cleaned up the AirBnb and packed...

...and for lunch we went to a Thai restaurant that Our Airman found...I got a curry...and it was SPICY...even though I said mild...it was really good though and I ate the whole thing...

...for the afternoon's entertainment we headed to the Tule Springs Fossil Beds National Monument...

...the sky was still broody...and it was a chilly 58° F (14° C)...and Our Airman was wearing shorts...oh well...he is from Alaska...

...it was really beautiful...

...the trail was lined with stones so you wouldn't get lost...

...interesting clouds...

...examining the rocks...

...after our chilly hike...we headed to the Ice Age Fossil State Park...

...and toured the museum...

...it was pretty awesome...

...and we learned a lot...

...there used to be camelops here...

...and then back outside for a 'quick' chilly walk around the path...

...we drove up into the mountains one last time...

...Las Vegas in the distance under the moody sky...

...one last drive past the Needle...

...the lights on the casinos starting to come on...

...and we had a quick dinner at Applebees...which in the past didn't have a lot of vegan options...now they have an impossible burger...just order it without the cheese...

...our plane boards in a few minutes and I plan to sleep the ENTIRE time...haha...so I'll pack up now...we had a great time in Las Vegas with Our Airman...
