Mardi Gras

We had our annual Mardi Gras celebration at Church last night - this is a fun tradition that the Man started 4 years ago (wow - has it been 4 years)...

...about 100 people braved the cold to come and enjoy some food and fellowship and some fun ??entertainment??

...There were magic card tricks...

...amazing that he always knew the card...

...there were hilarious skits - this one is the Bear Skit - you've seen it here before as we did it once for Cub Scouts...

...there were funny monologues by Lars and Ole...

...I dressed as Snow White and gave a Southern rendition on Rindercella - I'll see if I can get a picture from someone - if so I'll upload it later...

  2. Looks like fun, I adore these kinds of get togethers. It is such fun for people to do a 'turn', all the more pleasurable because we know them.

We don't have Mardi Gras, we have Shrove Tuesday, better known as pancake day.

Our pancakes are like the French crepes rather than American pancakes which we think of as 'drop scones'. Now people tend to squeeze lemon and put sugar on pancakes, but in our house it was always orange and sugar.

There was also other stuff, jam and my favourite - golden syrup! We used to have pancakes quite often, but always on pancake day!

I was very amused to discover that all of my French friends buy their pancakes in packets from the supermarket - then they warm them up in the fancy crepe pans!

  5. Looks like fun! I was in an elevator at a local hospital yesterday and a doctor got on wearing tons of Mardi Gras beads. It made me giggle.
