...on the way to New Mexico...Day Two...

...in case you're not familiar with I-40...it bisects the United States...running from North Carolina all the way to California...and it goes right through Albuquerque, New Mexico...

...so that's the super simple route we're taking...
...after a few hours of driving...it got daylight...we stopped at a Sinclair station...I didn't even know they were still in existence...when I was little I had a Sinclair Dinosaur bank that Daddy gave me...
...we crossed into Oklahoma...
...we passed Tinker Air Force Base...
...the views continued to look a lot like North Dakota...
...we ate some snacks that we'd gotten at the Sinclair station...
...peanuts with Dr. Pepper...so yummy...I drink less than a handful of sodas (POP if you're in ND) in a year...so this is a treat...
...I had made a baggie of Ritz crackers with peanut butter for snacks en route too...
...this is my old souvenir bag from Paris that Chantal brought with her as a gift...
...I did some knitting...of course...
...lunch was a Daiya cheddar sammie and a bag of chips that we packed in the cooler before we left...
...we crossed the state line into Texas...
...much of the day looked like this...
...so interesting to see 75 mpg (120.701 km) as a speed limit...you don't see that on the East Coast...
...some terrain that reminded us of the badlands in North Dakota...
...and GUESS WHAT was playing on the radio...
...right when we passed this landmark...quite the coinky-dinky...

...I know that's a blurry photo at speed...we'll stop on the way back and get a better photo...it's on the other side of the interstate...
...lots of wind generation...
...and lots of these raised rock formations called mesas...
...we finally made it to New Mexico...
...and another mesa...this one is at Tucumcari and is called the Tucumcari Mesa...
...and then we finally arrived at our AirBnB...through these adorable gates...
...this sweet little pueblo house ...
...it's so cute!...

~Have a lovely day!

  2. Nice to see you've arrived safely I love pueblo houses and wish we had the temperatures and weather to have them here. How many hours was your drive? Stay safe.

    1. Hi Penny,
...it's a really neat little house...so different from what we're used to...the drive was 24 1/2 hours...but with stops...it was two 13 1/2 hour days on the road...where we lived in North Dakota was almost the same distance as Albuquerque but we always divided it into three 8 hour days...but we had a young Airman with us so we always tried to stop in time for a nice family dinner and some hotel pool time...
      Have a lovely day!
