...9.11...Daddy's Favorites...

Daddy 1939-1993
...I always post a photo of Daddy on September 11th...his birthday...

...here he is with my sweet sissie on her wedding day...I love the look he's giving her...

... Daddy with me at my wedding here...

...so...I thought I'd post some of his favorite foods that I remember from when I was little...
...I remember Daddy eating bananas and Cheerios for breakfast...I also ate Cheerios...but I certainly didn't put any fruit in them...just lots and lots of sugar...

...and I can remember thinking it was so funny when he finished his bowl of cereal...he would tip up his bowl and drink all of the milk...which I thought was just too gross...

...I do both things now though...I eat my Cheerios (actually some other organic oat rings) with fruit...usually bananas...and I tip my bowl up and drink the leftover vegan milk...funny...
...and then I remember this spaghetti...we even used to joke in the family that it was 'time' for Daddy to leave when Mom made this for dinner...he was a truck driver and Mom would (of course) make one of his favorite meals before he left for a trip...
...but...it was sort of an 'unconventional' meal at our house...as we often (usually) had it with coleslaw and cornbread...not your typical accompaniments to spaghetti...I remember the first time the Man had this dinner at our house when we were dating...he thought it was such a FUNNY combination...and I thought that was funny...because I didn't know what he meant...haha...

...mine has a combination of plain TVP crumbles and vegan burger...and it's just like I remember having it with Daddy...

Requiescat in pace Daddy...

  1. This is such a nice post! I enjoyed your thoughts about the food - they are just as I remember him. I still serve that combo often, and my "man" has always thought it's a funny combo as well. Love, K
