...9.18...Dinner and a Movie...

...we made Drunken Beans for dinner...I mean by that...that the Man made Drunken Beans for dinner...original recipe here...we just omitted the sausage...and used dried soaked beans instead of canned...
...so I scribbled down a recipe for the Man to follow...
...and I made Nanny's Mexican Cornbread to go with the Drunken Beans...
...it's always delicious...I didn't have any creamed corn so I just took some whole kernel corn and pulsed it in the food processor...it worked perfectly...
...and we had some mixed greens with that...

...and it was the Man's choice...and he chose the new season of Vera...one of our favorite detectives...they're 90 minutes long...but it's a self contained storyline...so it's like a movie...this episode was titled Witness...

...and we thought we had it figured out based on what we knew...but as often happens...you find out something about someone at the end that ties them to the crime...it's ok...Vera didn't know either...

...what have you been watching lately?...

~Have a lovely day!

  1. We're watching all the Ken Burn's movies, one every night we are not otherwise engaged. Starting in 1981 with The Brooklyn Bridge, then 1984 The Shakers. Next up will be 1985 Huey Long then 1985 The Statue of Liberty. There are a lot of them, this will keep us busy for a month or two.

    1. Hey K,
...I'll have to put those in the queue for the Man...we watched the Hemingway and the Mark Twain series...they were both really good...and we'd seen the Shakers years ago too...
