...10.9...Dinner and a Movie...

...I've been making the vegan B.L.T salad a lot lately...it's just lettuce...tomato...a cubed slice of toast...sometimes two...a handful of TVP ham or bacon...and a generous dollop of vegan mayo...it's so delicious...and can be a meal in itself...
...but the Man fired up the grill and made grilled tofu...with his special sauce...it was actually a little too spicy for me...(I do know I'm a wimp)...steamed broccoli and a stewed potato on the side...

...and it was my turn to choose the movie...and it was Séraphine...it's the true story of Séraphine de Senlis (Séraphine Louis), a French cleaning woman who became a gifted painter and then descended into madness...it was also a lot about Wilhelm Uhde who discovered her 'art' by chance...I thought it was good...I would call it a pretty 'deep' film...definitely about 'art' and how it is perceived...but also about our flawed humanity...and how talent is rewarded...

...not sure the Man liked it very much...it was subtitled (of course)...and not really his genre...haha...

~Have a lovely weekend!

  1. Yeah, I’m not much into subtitled films either. But I’m sure you enjoyed it enough for both of you! Love, K

  2. Your dinner and salad look delicious. It's also a treat when someone relieves us of cooking the main meal, ha ha. The film sounds appealing to me. I think you might be interested in another movie about an artist named Maud based on a real artist from Nova Scotia, Canada. She was a very famous primitive folk artist who was afflicted with arthritis. There are no subtitles. Have a great weekend.

  3. I forgot to mention, the movie is called "Maudie". I saw it as a movie when it was first in cinemas years ago and then recently again on HBO/Crave. I'm not sure if they have it on Netflix or other services.

    1. Hi Karen,
...I'm more of a fan of them when they're in French...because then I can pratice my French...but I like them in general...and I usually have something in plain knit or stockinette that I can knit without looking at it...

  6. I've never heard of Séraphine Louis, but my image search of her artwork is pretty dazzling. So vivid! I like it a lot.

    1. Hi Beth,
...I agree...it's really quite vibrant...and the fact that she had no training at all is amazing...
