...1.15...Dinner and a Movie...

...the Man made a delicious pot of TVP chili...and that really hit the spot as it's quite chilly out...and we're preparing for a major ice event this weekend...so it will be nice to have something we can heat up fairly quickly on the primus...
...and I grilled a half a sweet potato and some broccoli...and see what I mean about the grill plates...the lines are just about to cross from caramelization to char...
...and I thought you might like to see the Man's corresponding half of the sweet potato...whereas I eat mine grilled with a sprinkling of salt...he invariably eats his with butter and cinnamon...

...and the movie was a YouTube documentary we found My Brothers and Sisters in the North...it was a respectful look at North Korea by South Korean documentary filmmaker Sung-Hyung Cho...I know all of her 'visits' were planned...but I thought it so nice that she asked the people she intereviewed about their dreams...she had...probably like us...grown up with a lot of prejudices about North Korea...and like I said already...I know all of her venues were strictly planned...but I was still surprised by how endoctrinated the people are...even the tiniest children in preschool are singing songs praising Kim Jong-un...

...anywhoo...a lot to think and talk about...

...what have you been watching lately?...

~Have a lovely day!

  1. Chili looks great! I got a bag of Chick'n flavored TVP delivered from Florida by boater friends a couple of weeks ago. (I ordered it Amazon shipped to their rent-a-mailbox in Miami. When they sailed over they kindly brought the TVP and a couple of other items I can't get here. Very nice of them!) It works great in most anything like chili. We're still watching the Bosch crime series. The North Korea film sounds interesting and disturbing! Love, K

...that sounds good...I've not been able to replenish my supply of ham TVP and sausage TVP...out of stock...pandemic supply issues I guess...but I got three bags of plain...and that's what we used in this chili...so nice of your friends to let you use their mailbox...

    1. Hi Karen,
...it was really good...I'm kind of fascinated by North Korea...and wonder a lot about why the people don't rise up...but obviously we don't understand...

  3. I bookmarked that documentary! I'm fascinated by North Korea and have read a bunch of books on the subject, so that's perfect for me!

That TVP chili sounds so good (soup and stews and chilis are so comforting and fun to make when the weather is crummy). I love TVP, but I can never seem to find it at a good price. Have a great week, and I hope you're staying safe with all that extra ice!!!

...I'm pretty fascinated by North Korea too..I use TVP a lot...and I like the ham and the sausage varieties...but I've not been able to replenish my supply of ham TVP and sausage TVP...out of stock...pandemic supply issues I guess...but I got three bags of plain...and that's what we used in this chili...the ice and snow are melting pretty quickly and we've got a little bit more in the forecast for the weekend...
