...7.2...Dinner and a Movie...

...we had a big ol' country veggie meal...with vegan cornbread, green beans, creamed corn (corn is 4 for 1$ right now)...and fried squash...cooked Mom's way...so that was pretty perfect...

...and then I think it was technically the Man's turn to choose...but since he wanted to watch a bunch of politico and I did not...he let me choose...haha...

...and I'd had La Vie en Rose...in my queue for a while now...and probably should not have subjected the Man to it...it's the bio of the iconic French singer Édith Piaf...and it was really really good...it's an older movie and it won the best actress award...it was really well done...

...when I was in my high school French class we had to do a senior project...and I chose Picasso for mine...(I know you think he was Spanish (born there)...but he applied for French naturalization (oddly never accepted though)...so he was "French" for art's sake)...and my teacher approved the subject...ah...I digress...one of my friends in French class did Édith Piaf for her senior project...and brought an album of her music...which I'd never heard before...but immediately loved...so...anywhoo...it's a really good movie...in French of course...and the Man paid enough attention to ask me to translate Rien de Rien for him...haha...

...what have you been watching lately?...

~Have a lovely day!

    1. Hi Éphée,
...I know what you mean...she wasn't protrayed in a very favorable light in the film...but her music and her voice definitely live on...

  2. I don't recall how I first heard of Edith Piaf but I did and I enjoyed her music so much. I was fortunate to catch a play called by the chanteuse's name. It was more of a musical and it was shortly after I first learned of the singer. The play was so wonderful. This was long ago now but I still remember it well. As for movies I haven't been watching much television but DH and I watched Spectre today and enjoyed it a lot. I set the PVR to record No Time to Die in a Few Days so I can watch it at leisure. I just wanted it last week after having waited about 1 year for a library loan. Now I'll have my own copy though I seldom watch a fav movie more than 3x and that is very rare. Enjoy your Sunday. Happy July 4th to you and yours.

    1. Thanks Penny,
...that play sounds really awesome...wish I could have seen it...I've not seen spectre but I have seen No Time to die...movies like that are a little bit too stressful for me unless I can watch the ending first...haha...but then there are always unpleasant surprises along the way even if I've watched the end...right?...

  3. Yum, I've had cornbread, beans, corn and fried squash over the past several meals as well. Good old fashioned food. We're still watching the Sons of Anarchy series. Biker drama almost a soap opera 3 seasons in....I'm already hearing complaints from Duane that it is getting too dramatic. The Man is a trouper - Duane would not oblige movies like that willingly.... Love, K
