...yes...that's the Man bashing our countertop with a hammer...YIKES...
...but that really was the only way to get it out...it would have been too heavy for us to carry out...and it was so faded and yellowed that it wouldn't be a good donation...no one would want to put a faded yellow countertop into their house...so we loaded it into the trunk and took it to the dump...that was an adventure in itself...now we know where it is...and how residents can add things to it...
...so getting ready for paint and a new countertop...I did some spackling...where things had cracked over time...
...and to fix the damage from the countertop removal...
...and the toilet paper holder removal in the WC...
...the we covered everything with plastic...
...and I painted the baseboards..
...and enough above it so that the walls can be rolled...
...it's the same relaxing colour we'll be using in the bedroom...Palest Pistachio...
...there's not a lot of baseboards in the bathroom...most of it is in the water closet...
...here it is in the light with the newly painted baseboards...
...and we removed the toilet...we'll be replacing it after we paint...but you can tell that the grout used to be white...I'll definitely have to do something about that once we've finished the renovation...
...ok...back to the past...
...right after we moved the first truckload of things...we did just a little bit of setting up and decorating...
...not sure this large photo is quite the right scale for this big tall room...
...I like it in the room...I think it goes well with the paint/flooring/furniture...just think it should be bigger...
...we put Daddy's old RCA Victor cabinet with Mommaw's lamp on it in the foyer...
...and hung the large beveled mirror behind it...
...one of our sweet neighbors gave us this little yard flag...
...and we got a new rug for the front door...I like the neutral colours...
...and the back door...when we took it out of the package...it was kind of dusty from the storeroom...so it's already been washed even though it was brand new...
...we took a standard white ceiling fan and customized it...
...stuck all of the little screws into cardboard so we could paint them...
...and then spray painted the ceiling fan for the master bedroom...
...a pretty pale blue...
...and got that up in the bedroom...
...and you know how I said that anything plastic in the house had not withstood the test of time and heat and humidity...well...the sensor for the dryer was one of those things...so we replaced it and it seems to be fine now...
...and we painted the hallway half bath downstairs...
...the trim is Eider White...and the green is Coastal Plain...
...and we removed the back of the toilet so it would be easier to paint behind it...
...and then...I didn't like the sort of bare look of the mirror...but I didn't really want to replace it...
...so I got some strips of wood and mounted those all the way around the mirror...and painted them green...
...and then cut the molding and mounted it to the strips...
...I had painted it Eider White...but it still needs to be caulked and touched up...
...I'm pretty happy with the look of it...and I plan to do the same on a larger scale in the other two bathrooms as well...
...eventually you'll get all caught up with where we are now...and it won't be so confusing...
~Have a lovely day!
