...a little bit of randomness today...
...we've had this bag of blueberry powder in the cupboard for a while now and I wanted to use it up...we bought it for smoothies...but it doesn't blend up 'smooth'...it remains gritty even with a vitamix...weird...
...so I made a little muffin for one using up a spoonful of it...and it's ok baked into a little muffin...topped with a mandarin...
...and for supper I made Griddler-ed sweet potato...for me...not the Man...he had his regular-baked...
...and we had fresh corn...I cut mine off...but you can see the edge of the Man's corn and potato in the corner...and since I was using the Griddler for the sweet potato...I just microwaved the Brussels sprouts...and a slice of baked tofu...I put some vegan steak sauce on that...so that was an easie-peasie meal...

...7.30...W.I.P. Wednesday...
...work begins on the sleeves...the first stripe on the body is not carried onto the sleeves...as they come straight out from the body...
...trying to match up when to start the leaf pattern so that it lines up with the torso stripe when my arms are down...
...I did the same number of rows with the off-white...and it matches perfecty here...
...the tricky leaf pattern is done for this sleeve...

...7.28...Over the Weekend...
...we celebrated my birthday...
...Sissie's gift arrived...
...the traveling card is with her gift...I thought we'd see each other before my birthday...but we did not...
...her homemade blueberry jam...YUM!
...so of course we had that for breakfast...the Man's bagel...
...and my vegan biscuits...
...the state of this jar after one breakfast...I don't think this jam will last very long around here...thanks Sissie!...
...then we headed over to the botanical gardens...
...it was so very HOT...and it looks like the river was the place to be...
...and we went to the restaurant there...it used to be a Burger King when Our Airman was little and we used to come here...but now it's slightly fancier but still basically fast food...the Man had researched their menu and they have a few vegan options...
...I got the veggie wrap with Impossible Chick'n...it was a fun lunch...
...just wandering around the gardens...
...pretty arrangements...
...but we were trying to stay in the shade as much as possible...
...it was not crowded...
...and you are NOT GOING TO BELIEVE what's in this package...
...the Man found a NEW-IN-THE-BOX Emmie...
...how crazy is that...
...price tags intact...
...and when I say new-in-the-box...I mean it...
...never even unboxed...
...everything still wrapped in the original plastic...
...Made in America...Buy American stickers still in place...it must have been forgotten in someone's attic all these years...
...the blade is a little bit different from my old Emmie...and the plastic is clear not the smoked version of mine...but otherwise...exactly the same...I am so happy with it...
...and then Sunday afternoon we went out for another birthday dinner...our favorite Mexican restaurant this time...and the Man told them it was my birthday...so of course I got the hat...and the song...haha...it was fun though...

...7.26...Dinner and a Movie...
...dinner was another one of our $3-ish cheap pizzas...and a salad from the back porch...
...and the movie was With 6 you get Eggroll...it was a cute...slightly funny Doris Day film from the 60s...very light fare...and pretty predictable...I did love seeing all the sixties clothes though...
...what have you been watching lately?...

...7.25...Friday Update...
...I thought I'd give you a glimpse of the square foot garden again as we are now in the middle of our hot Hot HOT southern summer...
...the spinach even though it's on the back porch with the other tender greens is really struggling...this is the small handful of spinach that I picked to top our salads...the buttercrunch lettuce however seems to be doing fine...and I'll be planting that again soon to transplant to the 'winter' garden...it did really well over the winter last year...
...the cow peas along the long edge of the fence are doing well...we think...
...they are producing a bunch of beans/pods...but the beans in them are very small...so we'll wait and see...
...the Rutger tomatoes are still doing well...no blossom end rot nor any more catepillars...
...the two yellow squash plants are doing just OK I'd say...
...we get a couple of squash a week...I'm thinking of planting another square foot with a squash plant this weekend and we'll see if we get a harvest before frost...
...still getting a good sized handful of green beans a day...so we cook them every three to four days...just as a nice fresh side dish for dinner...
...on the flower front...the lilies are having a hard time...these lemon ones are the only ones blooming right now...and you can see the miniature rose also blooming in the background...it smells so nice...
...Mom's leftover-from-lasat-year hanging basket is looking particularly beautiful right now...
...and the gardenias are blooming...and what a delicious smell that is wafting up onto the porch...
...and the purple cone flower is surving the heat as well...
...what's blooming where you are?...

...7.24...Delicious Vegan Food we ate...
...this was the state of our big napa cabbages last weekend before I repotted everything...and I had read that you could encourage your napas to form heads by trimming the outer leaves...
...so I got a big bowl and did just that...
...and of course those aren't going to be discarded...they're going to be delicious...
...a quick search of the interwebs...and I found this Forks over Knives Napa Cabbage Salad recipe...
...and I had all the ingredients for it...
...meanwhile...the Man sautéed some mushrooms in the outdoor kitchen...
...and we had that over tofu with the salad...and some baby Okinawan sweet potatoes and chard from the Square Foot garden...
