...we had lunch at our desks...so this was my first opportunity for any sightseeing...just walking around downtown...a native told me that the walk over to Brown's Island was very nice...so that's where I'm headed...
...the Federal Reserve building...
...more crazy paving...
...another pretty fountain...it's 94° F (35° C)...it's really hot and the sun is boiling...
...crossing the canal to Brown's Island...
...not sure where the photo of the actual statue of the man in the boat is...hmmmnnn...
...more statues on the pathway...
...there are a lot of Civil War themed statues...as this former Confederate Capitol tries to come to grips with its history...
...a train trestle...I think trains might still use it...
...some lock mechanism...
...heading onto the Potterfield bridge...this is not the only footbridge over the river...
...Civil War quotes every few feet...
...it's quite pleasant here in the shade with the breeze off the river...
...but it was really hot and sunny crossing the bridge...I did have on sunglasses but no hat...hoping I don't get a sunburn...
...beautiful river vistas...
...another train trestle...
...and just across the bridge they've turned this old stone wall into a climbing wall...
...and a lovely shady path onto Bell Isle...
...then...of course we have to head back across that blazing hot bridge...
...a few more historic buildings...
...this water wheel was working...
...some sort of a mill...
...and back to the air conditioning...you can see the small footbridge from the window...
~Have a lovely day!
