...when I found this article about the Da Yu Lin Tea ...I was intrigued...and I promised that I'd share with you when I tried the tea...
...so I opened up the canister that my sweet sister brought back from Taipei for me...it has an inner seal that I'm hoping will keep the tea nice and fresh...
...it smelled so fresh and outdoorsy...
...I measured a spoonful of the uneven little balls of tightly rolled tea leaves...
...and dropped a few in some water...just off the boil...
...they started to unfurl...
...and tint the water...
...I just used an open pot so you could see...but I wish I had a glass teapot for occasions such as this...I guess I could have used a Mason jar...
...then I strained the first cup...
...and took it out on the deck to enjoy...we've been having absolutely perfect fall weather here...
...the second brew...I'm not accustomed to brewing my tea more than once...so this article was enlightening on that count...and I can't say that there was any discernable difference in the taste...both were flowery and woodsy...very delicate...can't say that I tasted coconut either...
...one of the leaves unfurled...
...I highly recommend this tea...it's delicious...

Oooo tea is so essentially fall, thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteIs it similar to 'gunpowder' tea? That also has 'balls' of leaf that unfold in hot water.
ReplyDeletethat's really cool...glad you enjoyed it. i know you are more of a "super-taster" for tea than i am. i really like the earl grey you turned me on to so many years ago! i guess i have to have some strong flavor to enjoy it much! love, k
ReplyDeleteCool! I like how it all unfurled. How do they get all rolled up, though? I'm picturing monks high on a mountain, spending endless hours rolling them up by hand... while praying, of course.
ReplyDeleteOoo. I love new teas!
