...we had known for a week that the winter storm was coming...the newspeople do a fairly good job of scaring everyone over every weather event...so we were prepared...
...and we woke up to this beautiful scene Sunday morning...
...Church was canceled...so we stayed home and made pancakes and waffles...
...and soup was definitely in order...the Man made his famous potato soup...potato soup during a snowstorm is a tradition in my family...
...and a big pot of vegetable soup...just in case the power went out...(it didn't)...
...we made grilled cheese...vegan of course...
...perfectly toasty...
...and the perfect accompaniment to a big bowl of vegetable soup...
...we didn't have a full load of dishes for the dishwasher...so we washed them by hand...again...just in case the power went out...
...and kept a cozy fire going all day...
...and consumed multiple cups of tea...
...the snow changed over to sleet and freezing rain...
...which made a glassy coating on all the tree branches...and made a lovely clink-y sound in the wind...
...and this was our view this morning...a couple of inches of snow covered by a couple of inches of ice...
...and then midmorning...we got another dusting of snow on top of the ice...
...making the roadways extra treacherous...but since we didn't have to go anywhere we just stayed home...
...wishing you a lovely start to your week!

I read about the expected storm and wondered how you would make out there. I'm glad to see that church was cancelled and you were prepared and ready to stay indoors. The food all looks so tasty and warming.
ReplyDeleteHi Penny,

That all looks just perfect for a snowy storm! Yep, I agree, potato soup is a must! Love, K
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad we don't really have that snow-turned-to-sleet-to-ice thing up here. Heck, you've got more snow than I do right now!!! Isn't that something!
ReplyDeleteGlad you made the most of your snow day!
(And you made me chuckle with the line about the newspeople getting everyone all worked up. They sure do that, don't they?!?! Last week we were all braced for eight inches that turned out to be just a skiff and nothing worth mentioning at all, really.)
Hi Beth,
Delete...and not just about the weather either...haha...I love a good snow day...don't you?...

We did get snow on Christmas day. It was lovely! (Even if it did delay my flight to my sister's.)
DeleteI was recently reading a satire in which a politician wrote a book called "Get Scared America" and the title made me bray with laughter. It is so true....they're always trying to work us up....
Snow arrived at mid november up here this year. Reallly too soon! Winter will be so long...
ReplyDeleteYou were really well prepared for everything! Bravo!
Hi Ephée,
Delete...that reminds me of living in North Dakota...we usually got snow in November and it stayed until April...it's nice here...it's always gone in a few days...

Wow, that's early! Dog Ben is four and has never seen snow, not something we often get here. Thankfully!
ReplyDeleteHi Maureen,
Delete...I always wonder if Jack remembers all the snow in North Dakota...
