...4.13...Over the Weekend...

...it was a busy weekend...
...a new great-niece was born...but of course no one can visit...she's precious and perfect though...
...the Church had placed a huge order with the restaurant supplier and we went over to the fellowship hall with masks and gloves on to divide up the shipment...over 100 large boxes...

...it was really well organized/orchestrated...we were on the team that did the dividing and checking the order...another team took the boxes to the drop off point...and the parishioners drove up without getting out of their cars...and loaded the boxes...it was a fun couple of hours...just interacting with others from a safe distance...
...when we got home...our boxes had to be stowed as well...and Kitten and Jack were very interested...
...a tub of chopped garlic...we usually just buy the cloves and chop it ourselves...so we may get spoiled by this...
...four quarts of hummus...you had to order in the increments that the items are regularly sold in...and some families did some sub-dividing...but don't worry...hummus freezes well...and I'm sure I'll be able to eat up 4 quarts of it...I'll be making more Greek pitas soon...
...fresh broccoli...4 bags of 4-5 heads each...
...a box of sweet onions...
...and 50 lbs of potatoes...so we are pretty well provisioned...
...in addition to that...one of our gardening parishioners left us some sweet potatoes and an already prepared freezer bag of greens and corn...that was so nice...
...for Easter breakfast...I got out this old pamphlet raisin cookbook...
...to make these Hot Cross Buns...
...they turned out perfectly...I halved the recipe...I didn't think the Man and I needed 24 buns...
...wait until they are cool to ice them with the cross...or you'll get a puddle like I did...
...we disinfected our masks by boiling them with some peroxide...
...the robe on the cross went from purple to black to white...and there was an online Easter service...which was really nice...
...there was another community-wide toilet paper giveaway...three-for-free...and they included a small bottle of hand sanitizer tucked into the top roll...the spaced out bags are full of potatoes...also given away...
...a sweet Happy Easter sign and directions for how to proceed...
...and then after a night of storms...we woke up to no power this morning...so I got out Our Airman's old backpacking camp stove and made some coffee for the Man...
...and a nice cup of tea for me...

~Wishing you a lovely start to your week...

  1. That all looks so fun!! Glad the grand-niece arrived safely in this weird time. I logged on and watched (most of) the Easter service. Nice that he could do that and it was fun to see him "in person". Stay safe! Love, K

  3. Some good news, a WWII veteran who is 100 years old at the end of the month decided to walk around his garden 100 times to raise money for NHS worker charities. He hoped to raise £1000 but has so far raised £8,000,000. He has really caught the imagination of the country. A ray of joy through the gloom of what is happening.
