...after going to bed super early last night...we got up early and made a big breakfast...pancakes...
...and scrambled tofu...
...and too strong coffee...I'll get it right tomorrow...you know a new machine...
...then we headed up the highway...exploring the desert...
...to the Valley of Fire State Park...
...just lots and lots of beautiful desert scenery...
...heading back out...
...just lots more beautiful desert views...
...we passed a sign for Rogers Spring...so of course we drove over to see it...
...and we were so glad we did...
...it was such a pretty place in the middle of the desert...
...and a huge three trunk palm tree...
...the spring is a thermal spring...a constant 80°...and a little bit stinky...like sulfur...
...and then not very far from that one...there was another one...
...Blue Point Spring...no actual pool of water...just a swampy area with the trees...
...then we headed back up the road...
...more beautiful desert views...
...then there was a sign for a Petrified Log...so of course we had to stop and see that...
...apparently millenia ago...this area was a swampy wetland...and this log was deposited here during a flood...
...then we drove through the Lake Mead National Recreation Area...
...and found a sandwich shop in a little town called Overton...they didn't really have anything vegan on the menu...but they made me this beautiful sandwich anyway...it was delicious...
...relaxing back at the AirBnb...I made us some fizzy drinks with Pellagrino and lime...
