Antique Colander

OK - I said I didn't buy many gadgets anymore. Yeah, but we were 'antiquing' and I saw this - and thought it would be great for making jelly and soymilk...

I got it and it's stand for $15. They had been holding it for someone who hadn't come to pick it up and had just put it back out on the floor - so it's not like I could wait...

  1. hey, that is cool - i assume it's like food mill of some sort. do you move the wooden pin around to "sqwish" stuff? and where do you store stuff that large? that's usually why i don't end up buying gadgets - i've go nowhere else to put them! nothing going on around here....no new pics...

  2. Hey K,

Yep you squish the juice, etc out of whatever and the liquid comes out the little holes - for soy milk - I line it with one layer of sheeting - and as it's hot when I press it - the wooden tool is nice. I also used it to make apple juice for jelly - I haven't gotten around to making the jelly yet - I'll post about it when I do.

    Love,
