Tofu Jerky...

...there are a ton of tofu jerky recipes out there...but most are just too spicy for me...I mean a tablespoon of black pepper...that's a lot of spice... I mixed up a milder version...and marinated my thinly sliced tofu in it for a few hours and then transfered it to the dehydrator...

...this is tastily spicy but mild enough that you can eat it without drinking tons of water...Scout loves it...

Mildly Spicy Tofu Jerky

1 box extra firm MoriNu tofu
1 teaspoon sorghum molasses
1 tablespoons liquid smoke
3 T soy sauce
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1. Freeze tofu overnight and then thaw and drain and arrange on a baking sheet.

2. Mix all other ingredients and pour over tofu.

3. Bake at 350 until the liquid is absorbed/evaporated then transfer to dehydrator and dehydrate for a couple of hours until tofu is chewy and pliable.

  1. Hurray for tofu jerky! :) Think it might be time to drag out the dehydrator! Thanks for posting! :)
