...we saved a bunny...

...as we were getting ready for Church on Sunday...Jack started barking his head off...we thought he'd just see a squirrel...but when I looked out I saw that he was really barking at Callie...who was torturing a poor little bunny...

...so I ran out the back door and grabbed Callie...and penned her up on the porch...and went back out to check on the terrified little bunny...

...she was hurt and too frightened to move...and I had heard that just a fright could kill a bunny...

...well...we couldn't leave for Church with Callie penned up...she would go crazy...but we couldn't let her out to attack the bunny again...
...so I got a box and very carefully picked up the frightened little bunny...and released Callie...and put the bunny in the laundry room...and we went off to Church...

...I knew the bunny might not survive...so I was pleased to find her hopping around her box when we got home...her injuries did not look life threatening...so we put some munchies and water in her box...

...after dinner when she was still doing just fine...we decided it was time to release her...so Scout took her over to a friend's house...(they have inside cats)...and released her in the woods there...he said she sniffed around for a minute and then bounded off into the woods...

...this little bunny's ride in the hrududu reminded me so much of Watership Down...one of my very favorite books...I read it the first time in Jr. High...and then again when we lived in North Dakota and Scout had to read it at school...I think it may be time to read it again...

...have you read Watership Down?...and have you ever rescued a bunny?

~Have a lovely day!

I used to call her "Compost" ;-) Because she ate all the peels from the kitchen.
Hope everything goes well with the dog and the rabbit!

  3. I read Watership Down when I was in the Cameron Highlands in Malaysia. Enjoyed it very much.
