...What's Blooming...

...I've always been partial to wildflowers...and it seems so many of my childhood memories are linked to them...
...picking dandelions and rubbing them on our cousin's chins...querying if they liked butter...and then dipping our heads to look under their chin to see if any pollen was stuck there...no idea where we learned that...
...daisies especially....remind me of lazy, hot summer days...chanting he loves me - he loves me not...also with my cousins...knowing nothing of love...and we carried bouquets of daisies at my sweet sissie's wedding...
...clover flowers too...the bane of the allergic...but they have such a sweet fragrance...and the horses loved them...I can remember lying on my back in the pasture with Penny's muzzle right next to my ear...contentedly munching on sweet smelling clover...such were the carefree days of my early teenage summers...and one should never take lightly the bond between a teenage girl and her horse...

...so thankful now to be living in the country...and seeing sweet and nostalgic flowers all summer long...

...what's blooming at your house?...

~Have a lovely day!

  1. sweet memories, for sure!! the only things blooming at my house are zinnias and some sad-looking petunias. we actually don't get many dandelions or other wildflowers. and our clover is the mundane small white variety.....love, k

  2. My lawn is covered with bugle, daisies, dandelions, herb robert, white clover and buttercups. I saw a recipe for dandelion jelly, it looks very pretty.
