...also...over the weekend...

...in addition to acquiring a granddaughter...
...some grocery shopping had to happen...of note...the old fashioned Cream of Wheat...the old 10 minute variety in the yellow box...it's pretty rare anymore...and the Man swears that it's better...also Gardein breakfast sausage...
...remember back in May...when we had that bad hail storm...well...there was actually damage (I just didn't see it)...and all of the roofs have to be replaced...they've already done the picnic shed...and now they are starting on the Church...they will also do the Fellowship Hall...Administration Building...and the Parsonage (our House)...so that might mean a noisy couple of days coming up...
...I made homemade almond milk...
...I only add a little bit of turbinado sugar, and a dash of salt...
...and then I take the leftover almond pulp and make vegan cream cheese with that...

...and you can see Kitten in the background there...she's staying with us so that the Airman's Wife can have some time to adjust to the new baby...
...and I had gotten a steamer basket for my Instant Pot...and wanted to try making steamed rice with it...
...and it turned out pretty perfect...
...we were gifted a BIG box of already ripe tomatoes...there are a couple of greenish ones that I'm going to fry...
...but the rest of them needed to be worked up rather quickly
...and I decided to peel and freeze these in muffin cups so that we can add them individually when we want that fresh ripe tomato experience in a recipe...
...and I made some banana bread...it's the Lower Fat Banana Bread from the Veganomicon...recipe here...it's really good...
...and I had given you a little update on Jack and Kitten...and didn't want you to think I was neglecting Callie...
...she's quite the sweetie now...not the feral cat she started out as at all...here she is just relaxing in the backyard...

~Have a lovely day!

  1. When I came home with my second baby, I sat on the sofa and my cat jumped up onto my knee and laid his head on my chest and looked up at me, purring. The baby cried, Busby's gaze hardened and he didn't speak to me for several days!

    1. Hi Maureen,
...Kitten would probably be about as receptive...glad to know that Busby did get over it in the end...
