...so we started the weekend with some Reunion food prep...I made a double batch of Brownie Bites...
...it filled up my little muffin pan...
...so I packed those 24 little muffins up in a Tupperware to take to the reunion...
...but I had a little batter left over...so I made some regular sized muffins with it...
...not like cupcake thickness though...brownie thickenss...
...and packed those in a jar...just for snacking...
...packed a bag...a cooler of vegan food...a computer...and a watermelon...doesn't everyone...haha...
...and headed up to the mountains...you drive along fairly flatly for a while...and then in the distance you can see the purple-y-blue outlines of the mountains start to appear...
...geting larger with each passing mile...
...and clearer...
...it was an overcast day...and the top of this mountain is in the clouds...
...a small herd of deer ran across the driveway at Mom's...don't see it...wait just a sec and I'll zoom in...
...there she is...we later learned that they'd been seeing a young black bear in the woods too...we never saw a bear growing up...but we saw one once when we were visiting from North Dakota...
...I really did not do a very good job of taking photos this trip...I had brought the Just Egg for everyone to try...
...and I did take a photo of my breakfast...it was yummy...and Mom said she thought the Just Egg was pretty good...
...and the obligatory photo of Mills Knob from Mom's porch...she said...'it's so overgrown you may not be able to see it'...but it wasn't...everything just looks very lush and green...
...then I drove up the 'old road' over to Asheville...it was fun to see West Asheville again...right beside Moody's there's a biscuit restaurant and there was such a queue of people on this Saturday morning...so glad things are getting back to normal
...and then down the hill to Patton Avenue...
...at the reunion...a selfie (of sorts) with my sweet sissie...
...spent some time playing with my Grand-niece and nephew on the playground...they're getting so big...(isn't that what you're supposed to say at family reunions)...haha...
...and did just a little bit of food prep...I sliced the watermelon...
...Mom had brought a bunch more fruit...and some vegan sides so I'd be sure to have something to eat...so sweet...
...and then promptly at 1...everyone lined up and filled their plates...
...this is mine...my sweet sissie had brought vegan baked spaghetti...it was so delicious...Mom's vegan baked beans...and slaw...and some fruit...for dessert (which I did not photograph)...I had some watermelon and brownies...
...and then it was time for some music...that's my uncle playing the guitar...and a lot of people gathered round to sing...my sissie and I did not...because as my sweet BIL said...'we'd shut it down pretty quickly if we sang'...hahaha...
...so sissie and I perused the old photo albums...
...someone spends a lot of time labeling and organizing everything...but I kind of wish there was no label on this photo...it's of the old homeplace...the one Granddaddy always said was at the end of the road...where every house you passed the people got sweeter and sweeter and his was the last house...so sweet...
...and there was this really nice photo of Grandma and Grandaddy...I see something I've not seen before every time I look at these albums...(I tried to zoom in and see who was in the canoe but I couldn't make it out)...
...and sissie and I had a chuckle over this photo of Daddy holding his first grandchild...so sweet...
...and then all too soon it was time to pack up and leave...we came back Saturday evening to be ready for Church on Sunday...
...I was driving...so the Man called in an order for Mexican...
...so at least we didn't have to cook when we got home...
...and then Sunday afternoon...I just knitted and fell asleep in my chair...haha
