...well...
...the top shelf in the door of our freezer was busted...not sure how it happened...it was before my time...the freezer belongs to the parsonage...and you know that I need all the room in there that I can get...
...so...I brainstormed a fix...and for less than $2...I bought two 1/4 inch dowel rods...
...took them down to my craft room...really just the basement...and gave them a quick coat of white paint...I like things all matchy-matchy you know...
...I measured the door...
...and then put one end of the dowel rod into the hole...
...and measured where to cut the rods...and slipped them into place...
...and filled the 'new' shelf right up...isn't that purdie?...you can see part (and I do mean PART) of the Man's coffee hoarde underneath...
...what have you fixed lately?...

...Jack-Jack...or Cat-Dog...whichever...
...just a quick photo of Jack-Jack...
...he turned ten this past summer...but he still mostly acts like a puppy...or an adolescent maybe...and his favorite place has always been up on the backs of the furniture...like a cat...he's not really allowed up there...but every time we forget to put the baby gate up that's where we find him...
~He's a sweetie for sure!

...from the Mexican Tienda...
...I'm loving this...
...Have you ever tried Piloncillo?...sugar crust?...
"Definition: Piloncillo is made from pure, unrefined sugar that is pressed into a cone shape. It tastes very similar to brown sugar with a molasses flavor (even though it does not contain molasses) and you can use it for anything that calls for brown sugar. It's name means "little pylon" because of it's shape. The smaller cones are usually around 1 ounce and the larger ones around 8 ounces." from About.com ...cute little cone... ...the first thing I used my piloncillo for...was to sweeten my coffee... ...I just grated a couple of spoonfuls of sugar off the cone... ...and added some delicious homemade cashew cream...I make it just like the almond milk...just with cashews instead of almonds...so creamy and sweet and caramel-y...really really good...
...so I've given up my Silk habit...HA!...for wholesome cashew milk and unprocessed sugar...

...W.I.P. Wednesday...
...so...Last week at the Prayer Shawl group...after I turned in the B.A.B.Y. Boy Blanket...(I know I need to get the pattern done...and I will soon...I promise)...they asked us each to try and knit a scarf before the November meeting...they want to send them up to a Mission in West Virginia...funny...WV...and sweet...
...so I cast on right away...it's Lion Brand Heartland...Mammoth Cave..
...I'm about halfway done...no real pattern...I started knitting garter for 16 rows...and then switched to stockinette stitch for the length of the scarf...and then I'll finish with the same garter stitch at the other end...
...I've got another secret little baby blanket for my nephew that I'm working on too...but I still think that I'll be done by the 16th...

...the Great Pumpkin...
...Sunday after Church we took the kids to the pumpkin patch...
...I got a small cooking pumpkin and a squash as well...more on that later... ...so they each picked a (rather large) pumpkin... ...then perused the available patterns...decided they were all to childish...HA! ...but they did dress Jack as a Jack-O-Lantern... ...then they got busy cleaning... ...and carving... ...finally done... ...lighting the Jack-O-Lanterns... ...two perfect Storm Trooper pumpkins...
...Have you carved your pumpkin yet?...

...Community Shredding Day...
...we were at the Church bright and early...
...Over this past week...I had gone through all of our filing cabinets and called Mom about tax laws and statutes of limitations for how long you have to keep certain documents...and gathered up two full boxes of old confidential and semi confidential papers... ...here are our boxes ready to get dumped into the hopper... ...in exchange for getting all your documents shredded you were supposed to bring some non perishables for the food bank...
...this was such a fun community event...lots of people stopped by and donated food and got their shredding done...I thought it was such a good idea...

...Grand Champion...
...well it turns out that the problem is with Windows 10/Edge...I searched but did not find a solution...but we happen to have an old XP laptop that we keep around just because it has Office on it and Scout uses it for papers/powerpoints and such...it's slow...but it works...and I can upload from it...so that's what I'm using for now...until I find a fix that works...I tried several things from the Microsoft forums but none has worked so far...ARRRGGGHHH!
....anywhooo...
...Scout is once again part of an award winning band... ...the Band prepares for the performance... ...Scout gets his fire screen ready... ...and they take the field... ...and they took home the trophy on the end...the one that's as tall as a person... ...and finally a close up of Scout...
...for your listening pleasure...they got a standing ovation too...
...and someone quickly painted over the big boulder in front of the school...it is often painted with birthday greetings...I'm amazed that they 'allow' this sort of graffiti...but I've noticed other schools in the area that have a big rock like this one...

...Boy B.A.B.Y. Blanket FO...
*****UPDATE*****
...so this is the blanket as of 6:55...I'm about to walk over to the Church for the Prayer Shawl Group meeting...so I'll probably add another couple of rows to the border there...and then it will be well and truly 'finished'...
~Have a lovely evening...
~Have a lovely evening...
...
...so over the weekend...I got all the duplicate stitched letters done...
...just some easy embroidery...
...cute...eh?...now I'm working on the single crochet border...
...I'll try to do an update later of the actual F.O.
...I know the title says F.O. ...and it's not really finished here...but I'm working on the border and I'll take it to the group tonight and where ever I am on the border when the meeting is over is where it will actually be 'finished'...
...but it's pretty much finished...and I probably won't take a photo of it at the group session tonight...
