...I was still feeling a bit under the weather...so the only thing that sounded very good to me was 'brinner'...yummy homemade sausage pattie and tofu scramble...just what I needed...
...and then we didn't actually watch a movie for the above same reason...we spent quite a time on FaceTime with the kiddos and then I just wasn't feeling up to a movie...so we called it an early night...with plans to watch the movie tomorrow night...
...what have you been watching lately?...

...9.29...Friday Favorites...
...The Man and I went to CVS to get our Flu shot and the new Covid booster...so I got one in each arm...I really am so thankful for modern medicine and vaccines that protect us from serious disease...
...and you know I took my knitting...haha...but the best thing about the shot was that on the way out I spied the much coveted Plant Based Reeses...the very first time that I've seen them anywhere...so of course I bought all four of them...and I'll be stopping back in to see if they've restocked...HA!...
...quite delicious...but $2.79 each...ouch...
...and then (not a favorite)...as with all of my other covid vaccines...I had quite the 'immune response'...the Man suffered no ill effects...but I spent a pretty miserable few hours...

...9.28...What I Ate in a Day...as a Vegan...
...breakfast was a vegan buttermilk biscuit topped with tofu, vegan cheese, and TVP ham...I know it's kind of hard to tell what that is...and a bowl of leftover spinach...
...lunch was chili and I added a handful of frozen corn to mine...the Man did not...
...then in the afternoon...I rescued a couple of our gifted tomatoes...that were definitely past their prime...
...I just cut out all of the bad bits...and I had plenty for a sammie with vegan mayo...which I apparently didn't photograph...
...and supper was a purple sweet potato, grilled tofu, a big salad with homemade dressing, and some crusty french bread...
...what did you eat yesterday?...

...9.27...W.I.P. Wednesday...
...progress on the Simply Red Bolero...so far...not a lot...
...because... ...I made another quick double crochet cotton dishcloth to enclose with Mom's birthday card...the four of us siblings actually got her a larger gift together...so this is not her only present...haha... ...wrapped it up in a pretty pink paper and added a complementary flower as a 'bow'...
...and... ...the Prayer Shawl group is meeting on Saturday...and I want to 'turn in' my latest finished lap-ghan...
...remember someone else started this afghan with the light dusty pink...and it was a bit wonky...and had started to taper...maybe one of our newer crocheters as tension problems like that are pretty common with newbies...so I used all of the dusty pink that was in the bin with this afghan...then added a really light pink...then a darker dusty rose colour and another one that is almost a lilac with a pink-y hue...and then at the end I tried to mimic the little bit of flare from the beginning...and added in some tiny bits of leftover yarn from the closet at the Church...
...but I'm done with that now...so I'll get crackin' on the Simply Red...
...what's in your workbasket this week?...

...9.26...Tuesdays with Julia...
...we made one of Julia's Cold Buffet dishes...Vegan Homard, Crabe, on Crevettes en Aspic [Lobster, Crab, or Shrimp in Aspic]...'cause you know anything is better in aspic...right...NOT...
...definitely not my favorite thing ever...haha...and all of the particulars are over at The Vegan Version...

...9.25...Over the Weekend...
...started the weekend with vegan waffles...always good...
...the Man and I had often commented on the billboards we'd seen around Charlotte that the Number #1 thing to do in Charlotte was to see the Billy Graham Library...and we both thought...that just can't be possible...the Number One thing...really...
...so of course we decided to see what all the hype was about... ...well...for one thing...it is really beautiful... ...and these perfect early fall days have the perfect weather too... ...they moved his entire childhood home... ...the beautiful entrance to his parent's home...he grew up on a farm... ...I absolutely loved this home... ...everything was painted in this peaceful pale blue... ...and the tour guide told us that the colour was chosen by Graham's mother in the 1940's and never changed... ...we have a sideboard almost exactly like this one...it belonged to the Man's grandmother... ...the staircase...we couldn't go upstairs...but I imagine the bedrooms were up there... ...the kitchen was so adorable... ...I loved everything done in white and blue in here too... ...leaving the back of the house... ...after the house tour...we walked over to the Library...it's like a big barn... ...the crepe myrtle lined paths... ...and inside...it's rather huge... ...there was a self guided tour that starts with his early life on the farm...so there is a talking cow... ...and a cat that moves too... ...and then you're guided through little vignettes of Graham's life...the tent revival...and the beginnings of his preaching... ...the radio program... ...and his fame and prominence as a pastor to world leaders... ...his Bible... ...and someof his early typewritten sermons... ...so it really was worthwhile...I enjoyed our visit... ...lots of groceries this week... ...nothing much of note...I did pick up some interesting Mexican mushrooms to try..they're labeled vegan...it's always nice to see that... ...and I hardly ever pick up anything at the counter...but for some reason I was really thirsty so I got this tasty flavored water out of the end of the counter fridge...it was good... ...at Food Lion...they were giving out these pink roses to the 'ladies' in the line...and the man behind me asked if he could have one for his wife...and I actually thought they ought to be offering them to everyone anyway...I didn't even know that Food Lion sold flowers...maybe this is a new thing... ...I put it into a little bud vase when I got home... ...and it is turning out to be one of the prettiest roses I've ever had... ...the little bud vase was given to me by my Mom...she said it was the one that Grandma sent her pink roses in when she was in the hospital having me... ...on the food prep front...I think the only thing I did was to bake some bread... ...still loving my new breadmaker...thanks Sissie... ...and I put all of the little bits of leftovers into the muffin tin to freeze them for later...little bits like this are so easy to wind up wasting... ...and our little yellow tomato plant is still giving us tomatoes...but with the cooler weather I imagine he'll be slowing down soon...
~Wishing you a lovely start to your week!
