...I have posted about this Tabouleh before...and the recipe is there in English...
...this is the recipe 25+ years old now...written out on notepaper by my graduate school friend Hélène...
...but I've seen lots of recipes recently using cauliflower rice instead of...well...rice...of course...but for couscous and quinoa as well...
...so I just processed some cauliflower...
...until it resembled rice...
...put it on a baking sheet...
...and baked it...until it was done...and kind of dry and crumbly...
...then I mixed up the other ingredients...
...added some olive oil...
...and the cauliflower...
...pretty n'est-ce pas?...
...so very delicious...just like the real thing...
...have you tried cauliflower rice?...

...What I Ate Yesterday...as a Vegan...
...toast and tofu for brekkie...and a friend gifted us with a jar each of blueberry jam and strawberry jam...so I tried both of those...and they were delicious...
...for a snack...I had gotten some peaches at the grocery store...and they are just as crisp and hard as they look in this photo...definitely going into a smoothie until the really ripe freestone ones are ready a little bit later this year...so that was a fail...
...lunch though...was a delicious tofu sammie...toasted Our Favorite Vegan Whole Wheat Bread, homemade vegan mayonnaise, lettuce, tomato, and pickled red onions...so...so good...
...afternoon snack...much better than morning snack...pear, pecans, and romaine lettuce...
...for dinner...I was on my own as the Man had a meeting...and I had this strange hodgepodge of leftovers...so that's what I ate...while watching the first 4 episodes of Shada...the 'lost' (unaired) season 17 finale of Dr. Who...the surviving clips are narrated and explained by an older Tom Baker...
...and finally for a snack I had a bowl of Trader Joes Raisin Bran topped with a handful of raw oats and almond milk...
...a yummy way to end the day...
...what did you eat yesterday?...

...W.I.P. Wednesday...
...this is another use what you've got post...
...I've had these bamboo purse handles in a Rubbermaid tote for a long time...I got them for $1 at a church basement sale in North Dakota...so they've been moved...and moved again...
...and also in that tote...this old 'purse'...the pattern was one of those free leaflet patterns you can pick up at Michaels/Hobby Lobby/Walmart...and I made it 20-odd years ago...when I was pregnant with Scout...
...I carried it like it is for years...and then I must have forgotten about it...
...we were going through some bins in the basement to take a bunch of stuff to Goodwill...and I found the bag and the handles...and thought...hhhmmmmnnn...what if...I put those two things together... ...so...I took the strap off...and saved the thread...it's just Aunt Lydia's Crochet cotton...but it still might be difficult to match...20 years later...haha... ...the opening matches up with the handles pretty well... ...so then I just single crocheted through the top row of the bag and around the bottom rung of the handles...and TA-Da...a new springtime/summertime bag...
...what's in your workbasket?
~Have a lovely day!...
[ps...I am still working on the Baby Harriett...]

...Over the Weekend...
...y'all already know that over the weekend we went up to the mountains for a family funeral...
...but before we left...I had found another baby pattern I wanted to make...it's the oh-so-sweet Baby Harriet
...and this super soft cream coloured cotton yarn...
...just in my stash...and I'm pretty sure that it was in a bag of yarn that my Mom gave me years ago...pretty sure it's just Sugar and Cream cotton... ...so I split it apart...as I've been doing a lot lately...it makes a perfect baby yarn...
...and then we got the news that my stepfather had passed away...
...and I wanted to take it with me in the car...so I rushed around trying to find my size 7 circular needles...but to no avail... ...so I quickly looked over the pattern and jotted down some instructions for knitting the pattern on two needles... ...got my size 7 straight needles out...and we packed up and left for the mountains...
...and since I was in the car...and not driving... ...I got quite a bit of knitting done...the back is almost finished...
~Wishing you a lovely start to your week!

...Family Time...
...I think we all feel pretty much like these guys...now that the funeral is over and almost everyone has gone home...
...funerals bring us together in such a different way from all other family gatherings...we're sad...and we comfort one another...but we also celebrate and remember and rejoice that we were blessed with this family here on earth...

...W.I.P. Wednesday...My Sissie's Birthday...
...I wanted to make the Seaside Slipons for my sissie's birthday...
...and I decided to just do a blanket stitch for the beginning row...
...I think it was easier...
...and I had a blowout trying to single crochet the first row on the first slipper...
...the heel section of the slipper is rather ingenious...
...it slants inward and makes the slipper really hug you heel...
...and I used a smaller size so they don't look like clown shoes...
...I think they turned out really cute...
...so I added a sand dollar shaped dish cloth...and the boomerang card...and sent it on it's way...
...my sweet sissie has received them now so I can post about them...HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

...Over the Weekend...
...I think I mentioned that the Man was away at a conference last week...and when he got back...we went out for dinner...these were our appetizers...I got the sesame edamame...and the Man got the fried cauliflower...but we kinda shared both...I say kinda because the Man only ate about 2 of the edamame...whereas I undoubtedly ate over half of the cauliflower...haha...
...the Man order a spicy margarita of some sort...and it came with this hot sauce smiley face...which I thought was cute...
...and my entree was a couple of vegan tacos...the one on the left is black bean, mushroom and sweet potato and the one on the right is fried tofu...both were delicious...
...we've been having absolutely awesome weather for this time of year...highs were in the 70s all week... ...so we took Jack for a nature walk...we saw a lot of butterflies... ...this is a photo I took while chasing them through the field...but you can't even see them... ...they were varied...but mostly these orange/gold ones... ...here's a couple more...and they all loved these wildflowers... ...and it looks like it's going to be a bountiful year for blackberries...
