We have these same 'fool birds' in the field behind our house where we walk Jack - and they really do scare you when they flush - seemingly right under your feet...
Well our fool bird had some babies...

...and while she was away tonight probably gathering food for her brood - we sneaked out to her nest with the camera...

...aren't they they sweetest little things - hey Mom - do you remember the baby birds that Sondra and I tried to save and we kept them on her Mom's freezer because we thought they would be warm enough there - alas - they all died before morning - what were we thinking???

...we won't be touching these little sweeties - but we are going to keep visiting them and watching them grow up...

baby birdies are so interesting - they are so helpless, but luckily for just a short while. i don't remember the freezer birds, but it certainly sounds like something you guys might have done back then! love, k
ReplyDeleteWe have a nest with baby birds just like that outside of our front door! My mom loves taking pictures of them and showing it to us.
ReplyDeleteI love finding nests. When I was little our neighbors were able to rescue and raise an abandoned baby bird...not sure if it was legal.
