...Drawer Repair...

...I know that's an exciting title...

...and you're probably wondering why my silverware drawer is sitting out on the counter...er...ummm...and has been for 3 days now...(and yes - that's another rhubarb/apple pie back there on the counter too)...

...well...that's all because of this little bugger...it's a square PLASTIC cup that USED TO hold the rail that the drawer slides along...but because it's PLASTIC...it broke...and allowed my drawer to plummet to the shelf below...ARGHHH...

...it really seems to me like this part should have been made of metal...but I'm pretty sure the cabinets are original to the house and are probably at least 30 years old...

...can you tell I'm a little bit frustrated by this...and my inability to find a replacement part...hence 3 days...and I can't tell you how many times I've reached for the drawer that isn't there...HA!...

...but the Man (being the genius that he sometimes is...) casually said as he lifted a spoon from the drawer on the counter...'why don't you just put some screws through the middle of the bracket?'...genius...and frugal...

...so...I drilled a couple of little holes...

...and screwed that baby back in place...

...and put the drawer back on the rail...

...and now my drawer is where I reach for it...

  2. What's funny is that most of America would have used that one plastic bracket as an excuse to rip out their entire kitchen. A free fix or a $15,000 makeover. Your call. I believe you chose wisely!
