...Well...here we are at Camp Wilderness again...
...we loaded up early and set out with 10 boys in a thick fog...
...we stopped along the way for a picnic lunch...
...and a little fun on the playground...
...then on to Camp Wilderness...
...and we finally pulled into our campsite...
...got everything set up...
...and headed up to opening flag...
...there's such an air of excitement here on the first day...
...that's a big flag...
...we had a couple of Scouts who had not completed the swim test beforehand...so as the only adult swimmer with our Troop - I headed down to the waterfront with them...it's only slightly cooler down here by the lake...
...back at our campsite...even with a heat index over 100° F (37.78° C)...we apparently need a campfire...
...and we ended Day 1 with Opening Campfire...
...they always do BURN...FIRE...BURN...a chant where each section of the ampitheatre shouts one of the words on cue...it's great fun...and they claim that the fire won't start without this chant...
I'll appologize for the quality of these photos...all were taken with Scout's underwater camera...I (selfishly) did not want to risk taking my good camera to camp...the air is very humid and I can't seem to be able to keep the lens from fogging over...maybe it will be cooler tomorrow...HA!...
