...I'm still in the grips of a pretty tenacious cold...so I've not been in the kitchen much...and the Man has been doing most of the actual cooking...
...and my breakfast didn't require any cooking at all...I took some homemade probiotic soy yogurt...
...as I was chatting with Mom on the phone she mentioned adding grape nuts to yogurt for breakfast when she was visiting her brother...and I thought that sounded good...so I added a handful of Grape Nuts (leftover from the Grape Nuts Mock Sausage Patties)...and some flaxseeds...and a good dollop of the Man's Pineapple Jam...
...and of course I had a big mug of hot tea with that...the Man said "that looks horrible"...hahaha...I kind of agree...it tasted good though...and I agree with Mom...the Grape Nuts are a perfect yogurt topping...
...then mid-morning I wanted something...and during this cold I've kind of been craving a bunch of starchy food for some reason...and a big-ol' vegan cheese biscuit sounded good to me...so I got a probiotic biscuit (just two ingredients - vegan probiotic yogurt and self rising flour) out of the freezer and toasted it and tore up a slice of Violife cheddar on top...and had another mug of tea with that...very satisfying...
...lunch was some perfectly 'Griddler-ed' veg...broccoli, carrot and potato...
...with some leftover tabouli..a slab of baked tofu.and tea...of course...
...afternoon snack was an apple...and some of those perfect gifted black walnuts...
...and then for dinner...the Man made crinkle fries...and coleslaw...he makes a rustic coleslaw like his mama...just using a knife to shave off the cabbage...I generally use my trusty Emmie food processor...and crinkle cut fries in his new Fry Daddy...and I ate a LOT of those...starch again...and the Gardein Fishless Fillets leftover from the Vegan Fish Quenelles with Julia...
...what did you eat yesterday?...

Despite being sick I think you are eating very well. That should help you heal. Stay warm, hydrated and rested.
ReplyDeleteThanks Penny!
Delete...one thing I've not lost is my appetite...haha...
~Have a lovely day!
Your food for the day was an interesting mix! I had a weird food day. Wheat toast and orange marmalade for breakfast. Then beers for lunch as we were out walking in Duncan Town and there are no restaurants there. When we got back to the boat around 2ish I was still fairly full from the beer but ate some leftover green pea salad. Then we went ashore for sundowners and snacks - humus and rosemary crackers, conch fritters and some olive/cream cheese spicy tortilla rollups. That was it. Weird day. Love, K
ReplyDeleteHey K,
Delete...yours was really weird...and beer for lunch sounds pretty horrible to me...haha...but hummus and rosemary crackers...I think I'm craving that now...and my MIL used to do a Christmas dip that was just cream cheese and chopped olives...it's very Christmas-y looking with the red/white and green...
Love,
T
I hope you feel better soon! over here the allergies are rotten but I know they are allergies and I'm okay with it.
ReplyDeleteThanks Karen,
Delete...the Man normally suffers from allergies...but not sure he'll be able to tell this year as I've given him my cold now...but the pollen is definitely flying around...you can see it in the air when the wind blows and it coats the cars with a yellow dust...
~Have a lovely day!
