...6.20...Friday Update...

...first of all...a shout-out to my sweet sissie who blogs over at McCraw Sails...as she told me about a trick she's using to get around some of the complications of blogger...she transfers the photos she wants to upload into their own folder and then she can choose multiple photos at once...and so far it's working for me...I created a subdirectory called "post"....and I move all of the photos for a post into it...and then I can choose about 5 at a time before I get the "sorry we can't upload" message...and 5 is better than 1...

...and in other news around the house...the Man is installing a new security system...

...when we moved in the 20 year old house had an existing wired in security system...the neighbors that have been here for 20 years tell me that it is still functional and they still use it...it was probably a pretty cutting edge system 20 years ago...but there are no cameras or doorbells etc...so it's a pretty basic 'break-in' type monitoring system...
...so, we're replacing it with a modern system...
...and most of it will be free-standing like this camera...
...and entry keypad...they're not wired in...
...a glass break sensor...
...but the Man wanted to place this camera up at the ceiling at the top of the strairs...where there is no outlet (although it is also designed to be free-standing and just plugged into an outlet)...so it's going to require a whole lot more work...
...to create the outlet for it...we cut into the wall of the closet directly behind the camera...it's in the little yellow bedroom...
...and then up into the 130° F attic...(54° C)...
...removed the floor...and did a junction box and dropped a wire down into the closet...

...and that was that...

...except that there are a whole bunch of holes left from the removal of the old wired in system that have to be filled...sanded and painted...
...this one in the corner of the dining room...(new glass break sensor right below it)...
...over the door into the den...
...the main control panel for the old system was on the wall in the den...which used to be the dining room...so it's kind of right inside the front door...
...and it's the largest hole I have to patch...
...it will take a few days of spackling and sanding and painting to make everything perfect again...
...for these small patches I'm using the purple-dries-to-white tub of spackling...
...but for the big holes I'm using the regular powder mix up kind of spackling...first coat...
...and second...this one will probably require a third coat after sanding...

~Wishing you a lovely start to your weekend! ...

  1. Glad the photo upload is working somewhat! Wow, that’s a lot of work installing the new system. I’d have trouble finding all the paint for our house but I bet the Man has that under control! Love, K
