...10.20...Over the Weekend...

...we made a big breakfast...starting with some vegan buttermilk biscuits...
...adding some scrambled tofu and homemade vegan sausage...
...and finally the applesauce we had made last weekend...and a big mug of coffee...mostly soymilk though...it was all delicious...I do love breakfast best of all...
...and then we headed out to do the shopping...
...we didn't need a lot for this 'short' week...we'll be heading up to visit my sweet sissie and her hubbie Friday...and the capers were on sale at Stuff Mart for 79¢ for some reason...we didn't really need them...and their use by date was 2027...I just thought it was a good deal...

...and then we headed outside on a gorgeous breezy early fall day...slightly overcast...so perfect...
... we had gotten 7 bags of mulch while we were out...and like the pine straw we ferried them home in garbage bags to keep from staining the interior of the car...
...I cut a length off of the last 40' section of edging to go around the blueberry bush that's in the middle of the yard...and since this one is white...I painted it before installation...no need to paint the part that will be underground though...
...and filled it with mulch...
...much like painting a room...everything just looks so much neater with a fresh layer of mulch...

...I coiled up the remaining 30+ feet of edging as we'll be waiting until we pull up the cowpeas to till the earth and install the edging on the final section...
...then over in the winter garden...I planted beets, carrots and radishes in a couple of free square feet...
...and also collards and mustard greens where we had pulled up the green beans...
...and then the really big job of the weekend was to plant 280 tiny bulbs...a stinzenplanten lawn...basically you plant a bunch of little bulbs...snowdrops, crocus, and snow glories all over the lawn and they come up in February and March as little pops of colour in your lawn before you start the mowing season...we thought it would be a fun thing to see them springing up in the super early spring here...and we had 90 of two of them and 100 the other...it took a couple of hours to get them all buried in the yard...kind of strenuous down on your knees digging...but I'm happy that it's all done now and we'll have a nice surprise in the spring...
...and then still on my knees...I picked a BUNCH of lettuce...it's doing so well here and is a perfect lush crisp green...
...and I also picked the outer leaves of the Napa Cabbage again...I'll make the Forks over Knives salad that we love so much with that...
...the Italian sweet pepper is still doing great...
...we'll get a few more peppers before the first frost...
...still picking cowpeas every day...but they are slowing down too...
...back inside...we washed all the lettuce...
...it really was more than would fit in my biggest bowl...we may have a hard time keeping up with the supply for a while...maybe not though...I do love a big salad...
...the Man made a big pot of lentils again...
...and then surprised me by using up the okra...
...to turn it into a sort of lentil gumbo...delicious I'm sure...
...and finally the sauerkraut is ready to be stored in the fridge...so I transferred the current jar to a smaller one...and just put a regular lid on the new one to go into the fridge...

~Wishing you a lovely start to your week!
