...Yesterday was Epiphany...(more here)...and the Wise Men finally made it to adore the Holy Infant...
...and the un-decorating began...it's always funny to me that all the Christmas decorations come out with such joy the day after Thanksgiving...but by Epiphany...they sort of seem like so much clutter...
...but this has been the very best tree we've ever had...seriously...this is about the only needle dropping this tree has done...and believe me...in years past...I've swept up showers of needles from other trees...
...we had a couple of casualties this year...
...including one big gold glass ornament from our first married years...sad...but these things do happen...
...the others were easily reparable...
...and pretty soon the room was a jumble of ornaments and lights...
...I made a couple of quick cardboard cutouts to hold the new outside white lights and the new tinsel...and I got another skein of that sparkly yarn...I'm going to extend the tinsel...probably next Christmas...
...and I think we were all AMAZED that everything fit back into the bins it came from...
...how's your un-decorating going?...
~Wishing you a lovely start to your week!...

glad it all fit back in to the bins!! i took the last of my red bows down yesterday. i had forgotten the ones on the front steps since i rarely come into the house that way! love, k
ReplyDeleteI'm always so shocked it fits back into the bins. It always feels as if it has multiplied. And then there are the few days of the house feeling almost nakedly bare. But now...it's back to messy! Life returns thanks to my dear friend Jesus who gave it to me. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteThey came down a while ago. I remember as a child that the 12 days were strictly observed! All the decorations went up on the right day and came down on the right day!
ReplyDeleteI so understand what you mean about how a tree and decorations which twinkle and sparkle and given joy before Christmas, seem to be such clutter after Christmas. I took my tree down last week and everything didn't fit because I had bought a big wreath this year. I will be getting rid of my old worn box and suitcase I've been using to store decorations and use some old tubs I have instead. Wishing you a fabulous New Year!
ReplyDeleteI love Epiphany... probably my favorite of the church holidays (other than Christmas), also it happens to be my dad's birthday, so that makes it even more special. Our stuff all came down early this year since the college semester started earlier than normal and I didn't want to be doing it during the beginning of semester chaos!
