The Topper

If you're looking for the Advent Giveawayclick here

Way back in the days when the Man and I were first married, for our first Christmas together, we splurged on a hand blown Bavarian glass tree topper...
...it survived many Christmases - and then our first year in North Dakota - our tree fell over and it was sadly broken - I kept the top of the spire thinking that someday I would do something with it (I haven't yet) - and the whole tree episode was really a good lesson for me in letting go of 'things'...
...then just a few days later while we were out 'antiquing', Scout spotted this golden tree topper in one of the shops - and said 'look Mama - a tree topper just like ours that was broken' - well - it's not exactly like it - but we bought it on the spot - because...
...the tree's not finished until you put on the topper...

The topper is a very important part of the tree for sure! Yours is lovely and I'm glad your son found one.

Beautiful! I love the memories the holidays are just infused with. Fun to hear about other families special "stuffs" too!

It can be hard to let go of things, especially when they are from an important time in your life. How sweet that you found a tree topper with your son! Now it is for the three of you!

What a cool tree topper! We have a cross my brother-in-law brought back from Ethiopia, but it is so heavy, it never works on the trees we buy. Maybe this year....

The new tree topper is very cool, it makes my Angel look rather plain. I hope it creates new and fond memories of it's own.

My DH and I were just talking about our families Christmas trees and we both remember having tree toppers like the one you have pictured. Neither of our families can remember what happened to the toppers. Ours had bells on the sides as well, but you are so right it just isn't Christmas till the topper goes one the tree. My brother always had that honor, The year he was stationed overseas we didn't place that topper on the tree, we bought a star instead. After all placing the special topper was his job. Thank you so much for the trip down memory lane. One day I hope to have your luck and find another tree topper like yours...
