...another prom shawl...and this one has a sweet serendipitous story...
...I had already bought some black yarn...just like the yarn that I used to make the last Triangular Prayer Shawl for the Church...black with a silver thread...because I've seen her gown...(and Scout has not)...so suffice it to say that the gown contains some black...
...now for the serendipitous part...I had stopped at our local Goodwill...again...to drop off another box from the basement...when I spied...
...this...on a clearance rack...because winter is "over"...for...you guessed it $1...
...it's a Shaker knit cowl...
...with just a perfect silky drape...just fluid really...and oh so soft...
...and an absolutely perfect colour...I'm calling it hematite...
...I just love it when I find exactly the right thing at the right time...
...so...I just started unraveling it...and imagine my double surprise when I found that it consisted of 2 strands of silky yarn...
...Double Serendipity...Batman!...
...and Jack Jack enjoying the yarn harvesting process...
...a close up of this unique yarn...it actually consists of silky black fibers spun sort of around silky white ones...but the effect is a silvery shimmer...
...I've started my Super Simple Chain Stitch Shawl...and just like last year's Prom Shawl...this one will have a beaded border...
...I plan on being finished in a week...because Prom is the last week of March...all of the schools here use the same venue...so some Proms are early and some are late...and our girl will definitely need a shawl this year...
...but this time I'm going to add the beaded border after I finish the shawl...because...the beads that I bought are just...
...too small...so...I'm going back to get the next size up...
...what has been your most serendipitous yarn find?...
~Have a lovely day!
