...NO Tuesday with Julia...

...our oven is broken...
...specifically...the bottom element...and of all the things that could be wrong with a cooker the bottom element is probably the easiest and the cheapest to fix...

...we noticed that something was wrong when it took over half an hour to heat up to 350°F (177°C)...

...but looking back...it's actually probably been on the fritz since June...because we got an oven thermometer and tested it the first week of July...

...and we've just been adjusting it up ever since...380° = 350°...
...so I got out a couple of simple tools...a 1/4 inch socket and needle nosed pliers are all that is required...

...but when I popped the wires off of the pegs...the wires sprung back up inside the back of the oven in the insulation...and they were a bugger to get back out...so I clothespinned them on the oven side...
...we've ordered the new part from Amazon...and it should be here in a couple of days...

...I am so looking forward to having a working oven again...

~Have a lovely day!

  1. I love that you have been 'adjusting' the temperature to compensate!

    1. Hi Maureen,
I was surprised that it was 30 degrees off...and I'm really looking forward to having it work and work properly without checking thermometers and fiddling with temperatures just to bake something...
